Heck, I was so nervous I couldn't type...he got me worried when he said, "I'd like to apologize to the University of Minnesota and Coach Kill......(long pause) for taking so long" then he put on a Gopher hat *whew*!

I was watching on my phone and the feed cut out on me as he was saying I apologize to the University of Minnesota. I really thought he was going to ISU.

I heard the apology part and panicked. I missed the "taking so long" part so I was shocked when he pulled out a maroon hat (wait, Iowa State colors). THANK GOD

I had to close my office door and clean up where I soiled myself when I first heard him say this!

Assuming Jones qualifies, I wouldn't be surprised if he redshirts due to Cobb being on the team and so the team can get him adjusted to the world of collegiate academics. I also wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting the Laurence Maroney treatment.

The only thing that would surprise me is if anyone starts ahead of Cobb for the first game.

I would be shocked if Jeff Jones doesn't come in and rocket to the top of the depth chart. He has speed, strength and moves that are uncommon for a true freshman back. He is too good a back to keep on the sidelines.

He isn't that far off on the academics side of things either so don't know what all of the curfuffle about that is. Kid has to improve his GPA .2 2 tenths and increase the ACT score by 1 point to be a qualifier, these are achievable as long as he does the work. I don't get what all of the concern is Jeff Jones want's and is motivated to make it to the NFL and play on Sundays, he will be motivated to qualify for college and we will be lucky to have him for three seasons. If he is as good as he seems, he will play as a true freshman and be gone after his junior year but that is just speculation at this point.

I hope Mr. Cornell is paying attention.
 

I love the idea of a Cobb/Jones "Thunder/Lightning" combo, as well as moving Jeff all over the field, from the backfield for a change of pace, to the slot matched against a LB, or even out as a receiver. I hope Limegrover gets really creative to take advantage of his talents and create matchup headaches for defenses.
