The Gophers have received a commitment from graduate transfer Brock Stull, according to Ryan James. Stull, a guard, averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game at UW-Milwaukee last season. He is eligible to play immediately and fills a big hole at the guard spot behind Isaiah Washington.
Stull played under new Gophers assistant Rob Jeter during his time as a head coach in Milwaukee. He was on an official visit to Minnesota this week and committed Tuesday night. Stull is known for his shooting ability and has past experience at the college level. However, he will need to show his game can translate to the next level against higher quality competition.
Stull joins transfers Payton Willis and Marcus Carr as new additions. Willis and Carr will be forced to sit out a year, so landing an immediate contributor like Stull was important. There is a small chance Carr could be ruled eligible if the NCAA elects to change the rule to allow first-year players to transfer if their coach is fired. This is unlikely to happen this year, but would be an added bonus.
