GPL: Minnesota Athletics Reports Record $163.6M in Revenue for FY25

WBB expenses seem high and perhaps misleading. I think Big Ten averages $5 M in expenses.for WBB. Google AI say $3-6 million average. I know OSU is at the high end at 6-something.

Some of that may be the accounting. How much of the overhead for Williams Arena gets spread to what?

How does the cost for Athletes Village get spread among the programs?

If you ax women's basketball program, that would never happen, some of that overhead cost does not go away. It gets allocated fully to the mens programs.

I think. We don't know some of these accounting numbers.

Maybe track, swimming become regional. Use women scholarships for Dance, the one dominating U of M sport.

Minnesota is a superpower at Dance. Curious that they don't get scholarships that would mean cutting the same number elsewhere.

Women basketball, volleyball and hockey are untouchable. Same with men hockey, basketball and football.

Well, finally all of the geniuses here are proven right in telling me that we don’t have enough money to pay for a higher level of quality for FB assistant coaches vs. having the little sisters of the poor equivalent as coordinators. Shame on me for arguing that was PJ‘s decision to hire glorified analyst in those roles
No one ever argued that we don’t have money, everyone but you can see that it has never been invested into the football program.

We have the money and PJ has access to it if he needed it but why pay any more above market for our knuckleheads then we already do? Anybody with half a brain could figure that out.

The department went from having to find ways to spend money to suddenly having 8 figure deficits after House. His answer was to get the school to institute university-wide student fees this year rather than review exorbitant salaries and benefits awarded to those with zero leverage. Donations are down a few million. You can decide if Coyle’s salary is justified.

Right, he needed it when Miami came calling for Heatherman, where was it? You really think Fleck was like oh no big deal I can just replace him with Collins? You’re idea is our head coaches have always just been too stupid to take advantage of tons of money they could use to surround themselves with elite assistants?

The Gophers gave Hertherman a raise to 1.2 million before he left. According to the link below for 2024 that would have put him tied for 21st highest paid DC in college football. Is he better than that probably but there are some big names he would be passing as well. Who knows what Miami is paying him.

Ok so when you’re barely willing to have a top 25 paid coordinator as your highest paid assistant then that’s my point. We aren’t investing for elite coaches and compared to the rest of the conference it’s a joke.

The WNBA is more popular than ever and has literally never even come close to sniffing a profit so even if WBB does get turned around we are likely looking at a net loss there pretty much no matter what.

I think the WNBA will finally be making a profit with this new Media Rights deal, assuming they can come to an equitable Labor Agreement.

Even in the past while not turning an operating profit, franchise values have been increasing exponentially.

Pretty safe assumption they are going to at least be making a dollar profit in the near future.

He went to Miami — money but just a better overall job. Just ignorant that you continue to argue PJ doesn’t have access to more funds.

Heatherman is just the latest in a string of coaches that left for the same position elsewhere all of which made more money by leaving. It feels like you’re trolling. Seriously we’ve never had an above average assistant coaching salary pool for our conference, and now all of a sudden you think it’s available, but Fleck says no thank you. I’m sure he has access to enough funds to have hired more experienced coordinators, but not enough to hire and keep proven P4 coordinators. Your only evidence is that the money exists therefore it’s available?

Sponsorships and donations. My nephew was on the golf team about 12-13 years ago
Awesome, thanks! I’m really glad the U competes in golf and was pleased to see it’s near the top of the list in losing relatively little money compared to other sports.

I’m not trolling just think you’re being ignorant. Folks come and go for reasons other than money and our overall turnover of coaches from year one with PJ is significant and has more to do with RTB fatigue than anything, IMO.

Well you have your opinion and then you have the undeniable fact they all were given raises at their new locations, but sure I’m being ignorant.
