Freshman guard Mekana Christian drops 23 in her debut for the Gophers in just 21 minutes.

Mara Braun posted 5 points, 3 assists and 6 rebounds in her return, she did leave in the third quarter, but returned to the bench in the fourth. Post game they said it was just cramps.

Sophie hart added 16 points continuing her strong play from last season.

FWIW - I know it's only 1 game, but after 1 game, over 100 players in the BIG have at least 1 3-pt field goal attempt, but only 1 BIG player (Christian) has 10 or more 3-pt field goal attempts. She had 12. Impressive volume (and efficiency) to start her career. By way of comparison, Caitlin Clark had only 2 games her freshman year with more than 12 3-pt field goal attempts.

She has a nice smooth shot. Next up for her is a mid range game :) She has such a bright future!

She ended up shooting very well, but for a couple of the shots toward the beginning of the shot clock, I could see a bit of disappointment on Dawn's face that she was settling. I imagine she was a little eager in her first college game and the coaches might prefer for her to take fewer but more intentional shots in the future. She did have the hot hand, but more experienced players in the system weren't taking quite as many bold shots.
 

Just rewatched the game. I know Heyer would have gotten minutes. No doubt about that. My question is whose minutes was she playing? With a 10 person rotation…:I assume Holloways, but she didn’t play that many.
