Gophers vs. Cornell 12/4/10

why am I the only person chatting???? I have nervous energy and need to talk to someone :)

This is disturbing. This is not last year's Cornell. Let's go!

This is not even Virginia. Tubby must get us going

Mn likes to shoot from the arc too much and we are not making the shots. We have big bodies, we should be feeding the ball down low and getting lay ups or fouled.

If only we could make free throws though ...

we are getting fouled a lot more than Cornell is getting fouls. Fouls are 26 to 11

It also seems that this team plays down to its competition. There is no excuse for this game to be this close. Our talent is far superior to that of Cornell.

I can't stand watching Devoe right now. His decision making seems to have really regressed since last year.

Give Devoe a few games, remember this is only his second game of the year. I'm sure his decision making will improve.

Tubby needs to have an entire practice committed to shooting freethrows for sprints. I can't believe how bad we are at free throws right now.

agreed. jv high school teams shoot better than 57 percent

Ugly win. But they all count. 3-pt D and FT's must improve.

Same thing said after last game. At some point I believe that it becomes more of a "we can't hit FTs," so we miss them; and a "the Gophers stink at 3-point D" so other teams make all of their 3s.

It has appeared that over the last few games, including WVU, that the opposing teams have purposely fouled guys like Iverson and Mbakwe away from the ball to force them to shoot FTs. If they were better at FTs, this wouldn't happen.

Mbakwe was the player of the game, IMO. Even though he didn't have a FG, and missed a lot of FTs, his presence on the offensive boards led to a ton of fouls on Cornell, which forced them to the bench often.

Hoff has struggled the past 1.5 games. His shot is just a bit off. I'm not concerned, but normal shooting from Hoff, alone, would have resulted in a win over UVa and a bigger margin tonight. His passing has also been weaker than usual, and his 3-point D has been poor. He's smart and talented enough to get back on track.
