Gophers' Selection Sunday "Magic Number" Is 21

Gophers remain perfect vs. Cupcake City, beat Chicago State 66-54.

Next 3 non-conference games are 50-50 Balls where the Gophers need to show big balls. With loss already to Mizzou, Gophers need to win all 3 of San Francisco, Stanford, and Saint Louis/Santa Clara. 2-1 won’t cut it if they want a reasonable resume in non-conference.

None of the next 3 opponents (regardless of who the 3rd one is) are currently rated higher than the 15th B10 team. I agree that 3-0 should be the expectation for a tournament team. 2-1 is still a good start on the 50/50 category, though (where you need 4-2 - the Mizzou game was in a different category). But as far as nonconference opportunities go, these are the only shots remaining (and not particularly impressive ones to a selection committee).

With the way we'e played since the 2nd half of the Mizzou game, I'd gladly take 2-2 right now.

We also haven't won a neutral site game in at least a couple years. Just going from memory that includes the last 2 BTT games, the Orlando tourney last season, the San Fran game at the Warriors arena...
