Gophers planning on switching home field sides next season

New Mexico St. in 2011 on the sunny side was what I imagine Hell to be like.

I personally don't remember being overly warm that day, since it was a 2:30 game that may have helped where I sit especially the 2nd half.

I do recall thinking the temps may have impacted Coach Kill's seizure condition. Maybe that's why he wanted to stay in the shade.

We have our season tickets on the shady side because it was the gopher sideline. I don't want to spend my time looking at the visitor bench, I like to be able to see what's going on with the gophers, see the address the injuries, see who is fired up, etc. This switch would not make me happy unless we were able to get the exact same seats on the other side which isn't likely.

We're in 117 and enjoy the sun! There are many times when we look across the stadium and see people with coats, mittens, and stocking caps on becuase it's probably 20 degrees colder on their side, while we sit in sweatshirts and long sleeve T's. In regards to the 2011 New Mexico State game - that was probably the hottest game I've been to - DANG was I sweating.

Considering there are season ticket holders on both sides ... I can't imagine they would endeavor to swap a lot of fans..... what a mess that would be.

If the gophers are on the other side, I'll stay on the "true home side" happily.

All 900 hundred of them for next year?

Good luck with that!

They should have made TCF Bank Stadium so it slowly revolves like the JJ Astor in Duluth. This way everyone gets a chance to be on the sunny and shady side.

The New Mexico State game was the one that I recall being the warmest on the sunny side. I didn't mind much, but my season ticket holder buddy had already been landscaping in the sun that morning, and I thought he was going to die!

If I am not mistaken, that was the game that Coach Kill had his first seizure at on our sidelines.

Yep...sit right above you. Love the sun and the seat view.

I'm in Sec 140 and I would love to be in the sun but I chose the home side. If they switch sides I want to switch also. They could do another seat picking like they originally did by points.

Not sure this will happen, will piss a lot of season ticket holders off, the DQ room seats and the suites are on the home side now. I know my parents were on the visiting side in the dome moved to the home side here, they would not be happy. I have tix on the home side now and I would not be happy either. Cant see how they can afford to make people upset over this and lose more season ticket holders. If Claeys doesn't win on Saturday, he may not have to worry about which side the Gophers are on.

we chose seats behind the bench for the same reason as bottle bass.

We have 10 seats in section 110 and chose it to be in the sun. I do not want to be in the opposite side nor do my family members. This seems like another decision that has the potential to lose an already dwindling season ticket holder group.

They won't move anybody.

I feel the same.

I'd love to finally see the M rather than the W; but TV rules; W it will remain.

Schucks!

Seriously while I'd like to see them switch sides, I can see where it will piss off several home field side season ticket holders. When I had four seats split with two on each side, I got to experience both sides for several years. When I decided to drop two seats it was a no brainer going with the sunny side. Having to endure the rare hot game is nothing compared to the many cold ones. The only advantage to the shady side was having the home team and cheerleaders in front of us. Now it looks like I might get it back but probably not fair to my shady counterparts.

I have always sat on the sunny side and very much prefer to. Never gave a lot of thought to being on the Gopher sideline, and frankly, only try to peer over there a couple of times a game. Never felt I was missing anything, and its not like the sunny side is "loaded" with opposition fans.

I know they'd never shuffle ticket holders around and think that picking the desired sideline on gamed or the day prior would be a great way to go. It wouldn't be odd for the team/players either, as the coin toss determines who defends each goal anyway.

this may have been mentioned already, I didnt' read the whole thread, but to me this is coming from Claeys 100%. Despite his ample insulation, he seems to really struggle with staying warm. Even on hot days where I'm baking, he seems like he's wearing long sleeves or sweatshirt/pullover jacket. If I'm right, that seems like a mistake. And it seems like for late in the year games, both sidelines are basically shaded for much of the game or at least parts, it's really the Sept/Aug games where the sun is blazing on the visitor side, why would you want players sitting in that? I'm opposed.
