Gophers plan to hire Isaac Fruechte and Mo Ibrahim as assistant coaches

These appear to be forward-thinking, making meaningful change-based moves. I mainly like they represent not accepting the status quo, and having accountability in the program. Hopeful.

Fruechte checks a lot of boxes:
-Alumni
-NFL experience at that position
-Offensive coordinator & Play caller at D2 & D1 (FCS) level
-From the region

Mo is going to be a work in progress. Only 1 year of coaching experience and Kent State ranked 129th out of 134 for team rushing. Not saying that's his fault at all, just that we have very little body of work to evaluate. We all love Mo though. Wish him nothing but the best.

Not to mention he comes from an absolute powerhouse program in SE Minnesota! Have to wonder if Sawyer Seidl follows: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sp...idl-reportedly-plans-to-enter-transfer-portal

With the new rules on eligibility, I'm expecting Mo to be a player/coach.

Love the Fruechte hire. He is a future head coach somewhere for sure and who knows, possibly even here.

From Sig Harris (who played for Dr. Williams) to Butch Nash (who played for Bernie Bierman) the program had a former player as an assistant coach almost continuously through the 1970s/1980s. Both would give the pre-game “Michigan talk” telling the story of the Little Brown Jug. Sig Harris played in the 1903 game.

I had a bowling class with Issac Fruechte (my first year at the U and I think his last year), didn't get super close but the group of us that would bowl together during class had a lot of fun over the course of the semester! I hope he is successful as our WR coach!
👆🏻. This is almost certainly the best way to evaluate coaching talent.

Well don’t leave us hanging, how was he as a bowler?

Ok, this is somewhat OT and certainly TMI. Just landed in Maui. Sat next to a couple of young guys who are brothers, from Frankfort, IL. They both knew of MSM and the older one had played with Geers. Said that he is a great guy. It’s nerdy, but I am always making Gopher connections.

Fruchte's OL was led by Seth Anderson, a first-team FCS All American and the highest graded OL in the FCS. Anderson is a Moorhead native. Wouldn't mind if he followed Isaac to the Gophers (If he still has eligibility--not sure).
ND also had an FCS All American (second team) at Edge, Lance Rucker. Very disruptive. He might not be a bad addition.

Oh man I'm imaging the salt from the other team ... 🥨
