Gophers offer T.J. Watt

A lot of people spend years paying off college loans, free college looks pretty appealing. I can't blame anyone for turning down a walk on opportunity to take a scholarship. You can get a good education at any Big Ten university.

Kill has also apparently offered Marcus Ball, brother of, you guessed it, Montee Ball. Depending on the service, Marcus does or does not also have offers from Illinois and Arizona State as well.

I think Kill is just trolling Wisconsin at this point.

False. He has no relation to Montee.

He is, however, the brother of Ray Ball. Ray is an offensive lineman for Wisconsin.

Ah...well the trolling still applies, but thanks for the clarification.

I would be willing to bet you are wrong. (A first I am sure) See beavergopher's post.

I agree with Dpo. Hardly anyone will turn down a full ride from a B1G school to walk-on at another school.

Very unlikely for an incoming freshman but for a year or two it happens - see Kim Royston. I know, not the same exactly.

Is it really a given that a family wouldn't split between WI and MN? Rosga's & Gardiner's come to mind.

There is no way anyone will turn down a scholarship offer from Minnesota to walk-on at Becky. The reverse is also true. Never has happened, never will. In fact, I doubt you'd find many walk-ons at Becky who had any DI-A offers, let alone a Big Ten offer.
good point....

good point....

Three things (at least):

1. Link for the "walk-on" story? Benjamin Worgull (VadgerNation) is reporting that it is a full-ride offer, and that the Sconnie coaching staff wouldn't ask him to walk-on out of propriety because he is more than worthy of a scholarship offer. Sorry, I don't take a rumor passed on by a GH Becky troll as Gospel truth.

2. Even if he is planning to walk-on (which, again, I don't believe), let's see where things stand on Signing Day and beyond.

3. If he does walk-on and I am wrong, I will admit it. And, if so, big deal. I'll put my track record here up against any of yours any day of the week.

It's a full offer. Not a walk-on and not a greyshirt.

Wisconsin's class?

I have read that The Badgers have a very limited number of scholarships available for the upcoming class, the state of WI seems to have a good high school class especially with DE's. Are the Badgers trying to bring them all in? I believe I have seen 5-6 DE in WI that have received offers from the badgers.

Ramesh is being recruited as an athlete and will likely be a linebacker. Watt is being recruited as a tight end.

There are three high-major DE prospects from Wisconsin this year:
1) Chikwe Obasih
2) Alec James
3) AJ Natter

All have UW offers and we'd likely take all three if they all wanted to be Badgers; at the very least we'd take two. I think UW is at the top for all three currently, from the various reports I've read. I would not, however, be surprised to see any of them go out of state. Alec James and Natter both have MSU offers and are considering them highly. Natter also has a Nebraska offer that he really likes. Obasih has a Hawkeye offer that he's still considering. It will be interesting, because DE isn't a need for us at all this year, and neither prospect is so good that they are a must get, but they are all high 3*-low 4* prospects, and there isn't exactly a plethora of high-major talent in the state of Wisconsin.

I don't care if the kid only weighs 160 lbs.

If Minnesota lands Watt, it'd be like if Dom Barber had chosen to go to Wisconsin.

I don't recall anyone turning down a Minnesota to walk on at Wisconsin (though it wouldn't shock me). But Kicker Jack Russell turned down a Pitt offer to walk on at Wisconsin. Pitt is a top National University heading to the ACC.

Always remember that when a Gopher is drilling a BADger into the turf, the "W" is nothing more than an up-side-down "M". So yes, they're all "M" players so they might as well get it right the first time and go to MN.

Go Gophers!

I'll preface this comment by stating I'm in a particularly contrarian mood today:

Unfortunately, that is a two way street.

I'll file this valuable bit of kicker history in my Need to Know folder. I will also file your Pitt info in my Universities Outside of Minnesota I've Never Heard of folder.

No one here gives a $hit. Why isn't this fool banned?

Finally... banned.

It's beyond awesome that the mods aren't allowing the trolls to overrun the board anymore.
