Relax, the B1G is including all men’s teams for a six day tourney.

So, Terrible Tuesday is the worst you can do.

I haven’t seen the bracket yet.

I would have gone a different route for scheduling an 18 team Tourney:

Tuesday - 13 vs 18, 14 vs 17, 15 vs 16
Wednesday - 12 vs 13/18, 11 vs 14/17, 10 vs 15/16
Thursday - 8 vs 9, 5 vs 12/13/18 --- 7 vs 10/15/16, 6 vs 11/14/17
Friday - 1 vs 8/9, 4 vs 5/12/13/17 --- 2 vs 7/10/15/16, 3 vs 6/11/14/17

But I was not canvassed for such an opinion.

What a relief!

I wonder if the conference realizes it's harming attendance by excluding some teams, especially the advance ticket sales of the whole strip.

Speaking of the whole strip, this becomes one long-ass tournament!

I know its a very long shot, but if an 18th place big ten team managed to make the NCAA Tourney by running off 6 wins in 6 days, that would be such a fun story to follow

I don't think this is going to move the needle at all in terms of in house attendance.

By a full strip of for a 6 day event when it's possible to be sent home by Tuesday night with 5 days to go? 1/3rd of the teams will be eliminated by hump day.

How many from the Pac 4 contingent show are going to show up for any event east of Las Vegas?

Honestly, I would have gone the other way and cut it to 12. Make the regular season matter even more.

I hate byes (and really hate double byes). Have the bottom 4 play on Wednesday to get down to 16. Then it’s a straight bracket to the Sunday championship.

They'll never do that. They don't want the top teams playing 4 games in a row going into the NCAAs.

How can you hate something we as gopher fans never get to experience? 😂

The 29th Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament will be played March 10-15, 2026, at the United Center in Chicago, marking the first Big Ten Tournament to feature an 18-team field. The tournament will open on Tuesday, March 10 with a pair of games featuring the number 15-18 seeds.

I read somewhere that it was at least partially driven by Nebraskas collapse at the end of last season. Suggestion was that they may have squeezed into the NCAA tournament if they made the conference tournament and had a little run. Opinion fueled by them winning the Crown post season tournament.

I’m committed to this year’s tournament but not until Wednesday. God, please don’t let the Gophers be eliminated before I get to town.

They will never play four straight days leading into the NCAA tournament. Top teams should be rewarded with byes.

Bottom teams get opportunity to build resume and have an upset. Top teams can't hurt resume much and get more quality games.
