Gophers leaders chime in on tenuous future of bowl games

Bowl teams should be able to draft players from non bowl teams or opt outs like town team baseball. Fill in some holes left by players opting out.

Also, conferences and the bowls shouldn't be afraid of conference matchups. With the conferences getting ever larger, why not match up a couple of B1G teams that didn't meet in a conference game? I'd find that more interesting than any MAC team.

Or call up a Dakota team!

Has to be more interesting that the FCS yawn fest where a Dakota or Montana team wins it every year for 50 years in a row. (I'm slightly exaggerating, just slightly)

ESPN wants programming before Christmas and after. They have a lot of say, even if they move up the playoffs, I can see the bowls sticking around(maybe they drop a couple), but ratings drive this and I’m guessing the ratings are better than basketball this time of year.
