Yes, according to this tweet:

@teddygreenstein: Another reason for #Northwestern to get the Collins hire done ASAP ... sources tells me that Minnesota is interested in talking to him.

Go Gophers!!

no............

Good negotiating strategy by Collins.

No doubt the agents leaking fake interest will be the norm and with Twitter its so easy to get it spreading quickly by telling one reporter.

Go Gophers!!

Flip would be a great choice for the U. Maybe not the flashiest, freshest option but donors would love it, he has the passion and energy to recruit (with son Ryan) and obiviously can coach (i.e. see ISU's offense, Flip's body of work at the college level). Plus, the 4A state champ PG Mr. Jones could possibly be swayed away from Coach Izzo, Coach Cal or Coach K.

This is an interesting take. Do we know what's Teague's balance of academics and basketball will be? This is so opposite of Maturi, Teague really left the door open to any hire. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I hate the son angle. If I were a recruit my first questions would be. Do you think you would have a job if your dad was not coach?

I feel like we can divide all coaches into better or worse than Flip Saunders. If worse, they should not be the on the list. This is one of them.

I agree. You go through your list and if you end at Flip, he is your man.

I don't know how one can define him as "worse" because he has no proven track record except being an assistant within best program in the country. That point about no assistants in the B1G, google Tom Izzo.

Flip should be the worse coach we end up with.

I would love to see how one defines a "worse" or "better" coaching candidate.

Sources close to Chris say he is in Chicago interviewing for the NU coaching position.

Pitino may end up being a good hire but the early returns are that Collins might be as good, if not better. Sure seems to have energized the most dormant program in major D1 BB. Some people sure had strong opinions on someone with a similar pedigree and more coaching experience than our coach. Not every Duke assistant is the same though many on here assumed as much because of their biases
