After the game over the weekend, the Gophers have won the Axe in 2021, 2022 and 2024, while winning Floyd of Rosedale in 2023. This is the first such streak since the late 90s/early 00s, when Minnesota beat Iowa in 1998, 1999 and 2000, and then defeated Wisconsin in 2001.

Including all trophy games, PJ Fleck's teams have won at least one every season he's been with the program.
  • 2017 - Defeated Nebraska, $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy
  • 2018 - Defeated Wisconsin, Paul Bunyan’s Axe
  • 2019 - Defeated Penn State, Governor’s Victory Bell, and Nebraska, $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy
  • 2020 - Defeated Nebraska, $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy
  • 2021 - Defeated Nebraska, $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy, and Wisconsin, Paul Bunyan’s Axe
  • 2022 - Defeated Nebraska, $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy, and Wisconsin, Paul Bunyan’s Axe
  • 2023 - Defeated Nebraska, $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy, and Iowa, Floyd of Rosedale
  • 2024 - Defeated Wisconsin, Paul Bunyan’s Axe

Has been great to see the gap between us and our main rivals closed/eliminated. Now just need to find a way to win both games in the same year.

After the brutal losing streak against Wisconsin, winning 3 of the last 4 is pretty awesome.

After watching a bunch of brutal games down at Camp Randall (either blowouts or lost double-digit 4Q leads), winning 3 of the last 4 there is pretty damn good.

Interestingly enough, the home team has only won 2 games in the last 8, and 1 of them was behind closed doors in 2020.

Make me happy to have been at the game in 2021

Next step - win both the Pig and the Axe in the same season. Hasn’t been done since 1990.
