Gophers get second commitment of the day from Michigan Safety Ray Buford!

Awesome…Welcome Jonathan and Ray! This is going to be a fantastic class!

Didn't take long for him to decide

Fantastic news! Already a very successful weekend for Gopher football!!

Welcome Ray!

Ski-U-Mah and Go Gophers!

Mostly MAC offers, but had a BC offer as well. Kill steals another kid who had a Western Mich. offer.

Ray Buford Jr. commits to Gophers.

Just checking the 247 site and I see Buford committed today as well. That explains Glasscocks tweet in the 2015 Welcome aboard Ray! recruiting thread.

Outstanding! We need some DB's. Welcome aboard!

Looks like a great athlete in his soph video. Size and speed and potential. He's going to have a breakout senior season after being hurt last year.

Right now I think this kid will be the best commit to date, without the injury last year he would have more big time offers.

Really?? I'm also excited about our two newest commits yesterday, but I'm not sure our 2015 recruiting class (with how things project) could ever be categorized as fantastic. When we start getting consistent commits from kids with a number of competing BCS offers from competitive schools, than I'd call it a fantastic recruiting class.

Over analyze much?

The Gophers get a kid with upside who other schools may have slept on because of his injury. Length and size like his are assets in the secondary and Buford is a skilled kid who had a good Winter through Summer on the camp circuit.

One of the groomsmen in my wedding is an assistant high school football coach in Michigan. His comment to me on Buford was, "wow, the kid can play. I would be shocked if the big boys (Michigan, MSU, OSU) don't come calling once he's shown he's recovered from his injury."

Hope we can hold on to him!

Your groomsman is aware that Minnesota is in the Big Ten and not the MAC right? We are a big boy...just haven't shown it in a while.

I'm guessing a November game in TCF isn't viewed in quite the same light as a Big House game v Notre Dame to most Michigan kids. That said, maybe Buford will respect the fact we stuck with him through his injury and tell those schools to bugger off.
