Alright, I'm on a bit of a empty calorie, list making kick here, as if you drift over to the OT board, you will see. Anyhow, here's my four for the Gophers since I've become a fan of the Gophers, if anyone wants to take on the entire Gopher years, have at it:

Marion Barber III (my favorite Gopher player)
Tyrone Carter
Rickey Foggie
Greg Eslinger

Other contenders: Laurence Maroney, Mike Hohensee, Ron Johnson, Eric Decker, Karl Mecklenburg, Peter Jajarian, Mark Setterstrom, Ben Hamilton, Chip Lohmiller, Darrel Thompson, Chris Darkins, Lamanzer Williams, Jack Brewer, Karon Riley

I'm sure I'm missing many others, please chime in.

Good list. Probably swap Hamilton for Foggie. Bronko, Bruce Smith, Bobby Bell and Bernie Bierman. A Gopher Mount Rushmore of "B".

Sandy Stephens, Eller, Carter and Eslinger just missing.

Matt Spaeth needs to be on the "other contenders" list as he was the top TE in the nation.

I would probably swap Darrell Thompson in for MB3, but I can see it both ways.

Go Gophers!!

Willie Middlebrooks (my favorite Gopher player)

Ron Johnson (my favorite player from when I was in junior high)
Darrel Thompson
Marion Barber III
Tyrone Carter

I'll go with Gophers that I have personally seen in my lifetime: Barber III, T. Carter, M. Gray, Decker

Bruce Smith, Bronko Nagurski, Pug Lund, Bobby Bel

I always thought Utect, was better than Speath, I think Heath Miller beat out Utect for best TE in the country his senior year. My picks are Carter, MBIII, Maroney and Eslinger

M. Gray should not be mentioned on this thread. Undeserved tumultuous career.

Post 1982: Carter, Thompson, Eslinger, Foggie

In the 60-80 category you have to have one of my favorite Gophers, Rick Upchurch.
Before then, Bronk, Smith, Giel, Bierman

M. Gray should not be mentioned on this thread. Undeserved tumultuous career.

I chose my Gophers for not just their on-field career, but how they are as ambassadors for the U off-field as well. M. Gray is one of the best in that regard.

Darrell Thompson (Favorite Gopher of all time)
Ricky Foggie (Best QB post 82 and you have to have a QB on Rushmore)
Tyrone Carter (Best tackler of all time)
Eric Decker (Best WR)

Honorable Mention: MBIII, Maroney, Eslinger, Setterstrom, Riley, Nystrom
