Gophers currently 360th out of 364 in D1 team FT

Went to the game last night. There was a kid who was cheering for Ohio State in front of us. Anytime the Gophers would shoot a free throw it would be a dead silence and then the kid would shout out and the players would freeze and miss the shot. Parker Fox finally hit a pair of free throws and afterwards he would clap his hands and gaze towards the kid. It was tough to watch.
Kind of sums up the Ben Johnson era. Killed enthusiasm so much that this was even possible.

We sat across the aisle from that kid and couldn't believe how brave he was to do that. A fan in our row even went over and chastised him for doing it -- to no avail.

Kid was really annoying but one shouting moron shouldn't be enough to make a D1 player miss a free throw. When you say kid are we talking one who should have had parents there or like a teenager just acting like a moron?

Gopher free throw shooting under Ben Johnson
21-22 71.8% (167th)
22-23 61.9% (last in D1)
23-24 69% (290th)
24-25 61.8% (360th)
Per the pattern- next year would be better if we keep him. Ben has an eye for the pure shooters.

If only we were like the good teams, where players never need to try to make free throws while fans make noise. With hurdles like that, no wonder we are struggling.

Could no one buy him a slice of pizza and shut him up?

If you win regularly, you have rabid fans, a big home advantage and boosters who get behind NIL. If you lose regularly, those things dry up. We are now the Sahara desert of college basketball.

Posted this in the D3 thread but this is worth repeating:

D3 basketball:
St Olaf free throw percentage .669
St Olaf opponents free throw percentage .710
St Olaf Women's team free throw percentage .685
Gopher free throw percentage .618

What about Gustavus and Augsburg?
