Vikings can't stand to share their home with a team that has a winning record.

Cris Carter and Robert Smith must've gotten in their ears

Or, rather, that's the Vikings home sideline, the equipment is already there so they have to do literally nothing, and they're likely getting paid for the use of something that they're not and wouldn't be using anyway. The Vikings should help the Gophers when they can in the interest of being good neighbors and tenants, but they're a business first.

do we get sideline heating equipment too?

Iowa decided not to pay up?

I'm not following you on this. It's not like the equipment just sits out on the sideline 24/7 (It wasn't there for the Iowa game). And I doubt it would be there this week because the Vikings are in Chicago. Which raises another question. Wouldn't the Vikings have all their cold weather equipment in Chicago this weekend?

exactly
dpdoll I'm usually with you, but if this is true it's a real stab in the back by the vikings.

Hmm, maybe the Vikes can start a new business model and rent out equipment. It diversifies the revenue stream.

Who knows what inside knowledge a strength guy has but the original tweet said "borrow".

Go Gophers!!

Of all the stupid things for people to get worked up over leading up to a game this might top the list.

I was always under the impression that the home team had to provide equivalent heating or cooling equipment to the visiting team anyway in order to make it fair for both teams and to cut down on the travel costs associated with hauling all that extra gear from stadium to stadium. But maybe I am just imagining that being the case.

Personally, I'd handle it the other way and tell OSU that they'll need more than what the Vikes are giving them. Tell them they have no idea what it's like to play in Minnesota outside in November and they'll need as much heating equipment as possible to even be able to survive! :D

Yeah, it would be nice if the media would clarify this type of needed context and if the fans could wait to knee-jerk counting on a good media to do such reporting. What is protocol for a very cold day? It seems like Chad Pearson thinks that only the home team should get sideline warmers, or that the visitors should bring their own. He also is assuming that short of MN providing heat that the Buckeye AD would just let his guys freeze out there when they are playing all must-win games. Is that the usual plan? Does anyone know?

Maybe it's a trap. Maybe it won't work when they turn it on Saturday, or blows up, or something else cool and Michael Bay-ish.

Let the staff know. Fans/media likely wouldn't have known about this if Chad hadn't tweeted it.

Pretty sure Chad did so tongue in cheek. None issue as they would have brought their own had the Vikings said no. Simply the home team should have to supply for both teams, this is 2014.

That is kind of my inclination. If we played a hot climate team in late August and they wouldn't let us use perfectly good sideline mist machines that are sitting right there it would be 1A news on Gopherhole. They'd be classless pricks. This kind of feels like a nothingburger, but again hoping that someone on the Gopher beat either knows or asks so they can clarify this AM.

They're already better at the equipment rental business than they are at the football business.

Hmm. Seems like the Wilf's buying the Vikes for $500 million and now have a franchise estimated at over $1 billion with a new stadium seems like they aren't bad at the football business.

Not to get in the way of all the Vikings hate and conspiracy theories but Doogie apparently tweeted that the U made the request to the Vikings.

I meant on the field. No one is debating their ability to swindle people.

Clearly Spielman paid off Norwood to take the fall on this. The Vikings will stop at nothing to keep the Gophers down!

Thank you.

Gophers Chad pearson not happy with Vikes for letting OSU borrow heating eqiu...

So apparently the Gophers asked the Vikings to let them use it.

Nadine just got a nasty tweet from the Vikings Director of Communications about it.

Put your pitchforks away. The Gophers are the bad guys.
