We're walking up to the stadium now with as much beer as I can carry. Several Gophers at the hotel. I'll report back about tailgates and such as I can. I'll try to post pictures.

If anyone wants to meet up and drink beer, text me at 432 528 8300.

Headed to the stadium now. Going to the Blue Lot. Going to have satellite TV set up with beer and burgers. Look for big Gopher flag with an orange light at the top of the pole.

Toto, we're not in the SEC anymore. Tailgating is officially open and there is nary a soul in the lot. The few Raiders with tents have already started their annoying RAIDER POWER chant, but quickly shut it down as it was really just three guys yelling at each other.

On the south side of the stadium is a food court with a generic country band playing. That's where we are posted up, waiting for some Gophers.

You guys get a pass on the tailgate because you came from afar. Tards are just apathetic. And, they brought the wind with them. :(

Image upload is a bit of a problem. If someone posts their email I can send pics as I take them for you to post.

First sighting of the maroon and gold overalls. NOW it's a football game!

Minnesota will be in white uniforms with Maroon pants.

Goldy just fist bumped me when I said *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# you Texas tech.

Despite the unfortunate ending, it was a lot of fun being at the game. The U fans seemed great to me but some obvious bias having been in the MN crowd. I'm curious what impressions the TV watchers had of our fans?

It was hard to really tell on the tv. It looked like there was a ton more TT fans than MN fans but that's not surprising.

Lots of great Gopher fans there, but we were vastly outnumbered by TT fans. Of course, it was pretty much a home game for them - every TT fan we talked with was from Houston, Austin, or Dallas. Obviously that is MUCH different than having to come all the way from Minneapolis!

Any idea how many Gopher fans were there? On TV it looked mostly TT red except in one section.

Dave Mona on WCCO this morning was guessing that there were 37-38,000 people actually in the building and that about a third of them were supporting the Gophers. How many were actually Gopher "Fans" he didn't say.

I'd say 8:1 actual Tech to Gopher ratio as a ballpark.

The rest were just general fans or Texans season ticket holders.

Of course, Tech fans are hard to judge because they wear all kinds of colors to their game (scarlet, black, white, grey, camo, etc.), and I counted in the homeless population under the freeway bridges into their numbers.

+1

I heard that the immigrant population is higher in Houston and/or San Antonio or Lubbock than in Dallas, because by Houston/San Antonio/Lubbock the old van breaks down and they have no way to get to Dallas. Any truth to that?

Some Tech fans in the plaza were OK to talk to. You can tell they expected to pisspound us. One guy said "I hope we don't beat you too bad. I want to see a game." Actually met Doege's grandfather. He was a nice guy and hadn't mentioned who we us until about 10 minutes into talking.

As the game went on and more of the Tech fans in section 111 got drunk, they got out of hand. There was a group of toolbags that got kicked out of the section and sent to 110 after trying to start a fight with an old lady.
