Gophers 2026 class remains in the top 20 nationally, will it stay there?

Don't care about rankings, care about results. 4 - 8 win seasons in last 7 years, 8 bowl wins in a row and we are competing against the top teams and except for PJ's issues with Iowa & Bielema, winning more than we lose against the mid level teams in the conference. Do we need a game changing QB and WR to go with our RBs? yes...what might that get us...another 11 win season and shot at the playoffs. If not...i'll 8 wins consistently and an enjoyable product on the field to watch.

I bet between 30-40 barring any major changes.

My opinion based on the last few posts in the gophers recruiting and standings in the conference… they are middle of the pack in the conference. Just as close to 4-5 as they are to 13-14. They do not recruit elite players. They recruit a lot of pretty good players, and develop them for the most part. They will most likely never be a top conference team on a regular basis, recruiting the way that they do. They also most likely will not be a bottom, two or three team in the conference recruiting the way that they do.
I agree with this in general however I think we are much more upper middle and far closer to the top group then the bottom group most years under Fleck.

Occasional down years like 2023 will happen but most years we are well clear of the group struggling to get to bowl eligibility and tend to be looking at what could have been with another win or two.

The point of this thread was where will the class end up in the rankings? Not whether the rankings are accurate or important. Not sure why we can’t be interested in the rankings without feeling it is lone factor in ultimate success.
These threads get contentious because there are still posters (far fewer then there used to be) that treat these rankings like they are completely accurate, even though it would be impossible for them to be given what is involved in accurately ranking thousands of players across the country playing at all different levels.

That may be so, but that thread wasn't about that until some posters(on both sides) started the same tired argument.

I ignore this sh!t.

...All I care about is that the Gophers landed Estrada -- who was the particular player I coveted.

The rest is straight gravy to me. Let the good times roll.

I think what makes it contentious is your stance that the rankings don't matter, when the whole thread is; 'Gophers 2026 class remains in the top 20 nationally, will it stay there? Why do you even respond to this if you feel rankings don't matter? Ignore the thread! You're the one stirring the pot here as this whole topic always drives you nuts and then you go after others who feel different than you do, for their opinion. Seriously, makes me laugh and I will admit, I do appreciate your views most of the time.

I still think they'll end up 40-50, and that's in response to the thread title! They do coach above the recruits they get, which means kudos to the staff, as you admit, they don't recruit elite players. Which, I hate to tell you, is why we're not fighting for that playoff position year after year..
