Gophers 2025-26 non-con schedule news

Pathetic.. looks like no non conference games this year… one less non conference games than last year…

Man that’s brutal. I’m disappointed in Niko. I don’t care that it’s his first year. Thank goodness that @Mizz game fell through last year.

Ben’s home schedule was a gauntlet last year compared to this trash.

At least I won't feel as bummed when can't get the games on television I guess.

What if we lose one or more of these? Plus, it seems so disrespectful to season ticket holders...at least play one decent familiar team at home beyond the exhibition games.

It’s garbage and it’s disrespectful to the season ticket holders. I thought we had turned the page…
I also think it’s too easy of a schedule, but Niko has to get his offense and defense implemented, tested and corrected before B1G play.

I don’t think season ticket holders should feel disrespected because they get to see the very beginning of Niko Nedved era and how he builds the program into a national success.

Well you posted this at 1:50 AM so I will let it slide. It's when BTC does his best work.

Adding one decent home non conference game was low hanging fruit. I'm very happy with the hire and hopeful about the direction of the program. However, adding a decent game (we aren't asking for a FF team!) would have been a a nice gesture for the most true blue fans and was relatively easy to do. The fans shouldn't give him a pass on this one.

Does Niko have complete and total control over this schedule?

I know in football the non-conf games are signed years in advance.

Also wonder how much influence Coyle has "look Niko, I want you to hit the ground running with WINS this first year, OK?" I made that up out of thin air, but isn't it possible?

In hoops, the coach and his staff do have way more to do with scheduling. The AD probably has reins on mandating a certain number of home games, when they can be played to not interfere with other sports, and a budget for how much can be spent on these buy games - possibly has some final approval, but the identifying of opponents is mostly on the staff.

I know scheduling can't be easy, but "no one wants to play us" is just unacceptable. I couldn't care less if Florida said no - find a yes. It's literally your job - you have to do what you have to do to get things done.

Oh well, maybe next year.

Thank you for clarifying!

I really like Niko and this hire. I want him to succeed here (Captain Obvious, I'm sure everyone does).

My gut feel (not worth $0.01) is that I'm OK with piling up some easy wins in the non-conf if it gets the ball rolling, this first year. As always ... only time will tell ...
