GopherHole is excited to announce that it is expanding its football recruiting coverage with the addition of VAmes to its staff. For the past five years, VAmes has been compiling top player lists for Minnesota HSfootball players and posting every couple of months on GopherHole football message boards. He recently approached GopherHole staff about moving his top players list over to our webpage as a way to help promote our top players in the state, but also keep recruiting enthusiasts informed on our future top players in the state.

VAmes pulls together these lists by identifying top sophomores in the state that start varsity, pick up varsity playing on 5A or 6A teams, pick up All State or All Conference honors, and have height/weight potential for D1 football. He will continuously update the recruiting profiles and updates on each of the top in-state players, which can start as early as the sophomore year but primarily in the junior year.

Although it is hard to quantify the results of his success, in the Class of 2012 nearly 50 players picked up D1 football offers to include 12 BCS offers, which is probably close to a record for the state. For the Class of 2013, approximately 40 players picked up D1 offers with a significant number of BCS walk-ons from the state.

As with all of its content, this expanded coverage from VAmes will continue to be free – a long time commitment by GopherHole. We look forward to having VAmes updates on the GopherHole webpages now as well as future updates on the message boards. For the latest on the top players in the Class of 2014 and Class of 2015, please check the following links. To provide input on top players missing from the list or if you would like to get involved, please feel free to email VAmes at [email protected].

Good to hear! I've enjoyed VAmes' work and messages, and I look forward to his upcoming reports.

Kudos to GopherHole . . . it keeps getting better and better!

Go Gophers!!

Wow, this is awesome. Thanks Vames and GH Staff. The fact that all of the recruiting Q&As, articles, columns and now all of this is free is amazing. There can't be many all free sites with this much content. It amazes me.

I just clicked on each of the class lists and wow, that will waste a lot of time for me at work this week!

I wonder what Kyle Kessell thinks of this announcement?

Nice! Good job GH. VAmes does a great job and he is one of the few guys who really follows MN recruiting intensely. He also doesn't pretend to have all of the inside scoops to where all of the kids are going. He does a great job of compiling his lists, being really accurate with his info and has been one of the best contributors to Gopherhole. I always thought of him (and guys like DL65) as part of Gopherhole, so it's cool it's official.

I look forward to the lists!

Love this as somebody who follows Gopher Football and High School Football closely it is awesome that I can go to gopherhole for all my coverage. I love the fact that I can keep track of players and teams around the state that are getting gopher or college looks.

Thanks for the compliments on the efforts to track our top players. At the end of the day, my goal to identify and help promote the top players in the state. In theory, as the players see their names on the list, they will put in the additional time and effort to improve their strength, speed, and technique in the offseason as well as attend combines/camps to improve skills. The second theory is with improved talent in the state, the Gophers will be able to reap the benefits with a stronger recruiting base. We shall see if these theories can be proven over the next few years. If I am missing any player that has D1 potential, feel free to post a message or send an email.

Yep, I hope they work out for those theories. Even if they do not, it's a really informative part of Gopherhole and is really a good source of info on the local guys.
