One of the keys to building a good football program is to find pipelines to schools that are very good at developing talent, whether it’s quarterbacks, receivers, backs, or lineman. When it comes to offensive and defensive lineman, an emerging pipeline to the University of Minnesota appears to be Mahtomedi High School, where Minnesota has freshman Ed Olson already on the roster, and has a commitment already from his younger brother Tom Olson, a junior lineman for the Zephyrs.

Another potential lineman that the Zephyrs have right now that the Gophers are showing interest in is Will Westman, a 6’7”, 289-pound junior. The Gopher Hole’s Nick Walsh was able to catch up with Westman recently to find out where he was in his recruitment, and what his thoughts are on the University of Minnesota.

Will...

great success for the rest of your HS career...we look forward to seeing you in M&G!

Kid is a beast! I'm not an expert when it comes to the line but doesn't that seem really tall to be a DT?

Seen a couple of his games....he looks athletic and gets pretty riled up and mean when he is playing. Loves trying to destroy the QB and gets super p'od out there. It's very interesting but he is a one way player and doesn't even line up on the O-line. Having him and Olson would be a brutal combo but he loves his D Line. With all that said....I see him maybe being a 5.4 type on rivals or something along those lines. Doesn't scream D-1 level when you watch him in the game but than again I'm not the greatest at finding "sleepers" which he seems to be.
