Andre vs Traevon Jackson. Jackson is a muscular guard with no outside shot. Dre should rebound to dominate this matchup. Jackson isn't reliaded on to score just maintain a snails pace to the game.
Austin vs Brust. Brust is a very good 3pt shooter, rebounder, and hustler. Austin is a better defender, they are pretty even.
Coleman vs Brueseiwtz/Dekker. Brueseiwtz is a blue collar hustler. Dekker is a multi-talented freshmen. Both are 2 inches bigger than Coleman. Both can hit the three. Have to give the edge to the 2 headed monster.
Rodney vs Ryan Evans. Evans is having a horrible shooting year. 10% on 3's, 39% ft,. He dominated Rodney last year. Rodney is struggling as well so far this year .. draw.
Trevor vs Berggren. Berggren is probably the 2nd most talented center after zeller. He can score on the box and outside. Trevor has him on the boards for sure. Trevor will have to play him straight up as helping with result in lots of open 3's. It would be nice to get Trevor some touches inside. Berggren has has issues with fouls in their losses. even.

Bench: Welch vs Marshall, EE vs Kaminsky, Sconny brings in Dekker too i believe.
Game will come down to pace. We need to run. Sconny shoots 61% from ft. Jackson is the only starter shooting over 70%. Dre needs to score on Jackson, a big advantage for us in this matchup. I think lots of full court, 1/2 court trapping, full court man to man on Jackson.

Nice write up on the player matchups, but you forgot the most important matchup: Bo vs Tubby and its not even close.

Ryan could take our starting 5 and win a national championship. He could take Kendall Shell, Wally Ellenson, Double E, Mo and Oto and beat Wisconsin by 10.

As for this Saturday, expect another ugly loss, only this time by 20+plus. We are imploding fast.

Seriously? Do you watch Bo Ryan porn nightly or what? Are you aiming for a spot on his staff? Do you have the official Bo Ryan action figure and blanky?

Bo Ryan has had similar or better ranked recruits than Tubby has had at MN. Bo Ryan runs a completely different system than Tubby. Bo Ryan would fail miserably with this roster and Tubby would fail miserably with the Wisconsin roster.

How would Rodney look spending his time on the perimeter? we answered that question years 1 and 2 here. What if you turned Coleman into a spot up 3 point shooter? Yikes. Or Trevor into a 3 point shooting 5? Ehhhh.

You can love Bo Ryan to death but if you honestly think his system would work with this roster you are nuts.

Brust and Hollins even, what are you smoking? I would take Austin Hollins every time (and so would every coach in america) over Brust. Very slow, set shot, ok on defense. Yeah he can shoot, but you are underestimating Hollins.

ALso Dekker is way more than 2 inches taller than Coleman. This is a game the big line up would do well. Rodney and Joe are going to have a hard time on the boards versus the other 2.

I'll also take TM every time over Berggren. TM is a complete Beast, and much better (see last night). The only thing that they could do to stop him last night was to play the zone.

Man if we went by your take you would think we were 0-6 in the Big Ten. Simmer down and be a fan and stop obsessing with other coaches that aren't here.

Ok sunshine. Once again your over the top bs gets old. The team wasn't as good as some of the junior high posters made them out to be after the Illinois game, the team isn't as bad as some of the junior high posters are making them out to be after the losses.

It never fails.....winning spurt and we are a lock for the final four. Losing string and we need to fire tubby and the team will be lucky to make the nit. Long season. Now beat wisconsin.

I agree. Well said.

This game is make or break for the team's confidence this season. If they lose, the floodgates will open up and it's going to be a mess!

I have a feeling we will win, I remember thinking after Purdue smoked us last year that we would beat Indiana, I have that same feeling about Wisconsin, I just can't see this team dropping four in a row in conference big rivalry game, team's as desperate as can be

Wisconsin is one of the hardest places to win a road game. Where is Westbrook when we need him?

Brust is a better rebounder and better in the halfcourt on offense. Austin is better on defense and in the open court. Neither can create offense much on their own. But ok I can give an edge to Austin.

Your right Dekker is listed at 6'7" so 3 inches. That is "way" more. The big line up? The one where Rodney is shooting 3's as a sf?

TM dominates the boards and put backs. He is also an athletic defender. Berggren is no slouch however. Do I expect TM to get touches on the block and score or get Berggren to foul him...I hope so. Beggrens low post game and outside shot is tough to defend also.
Look I am a big gopher fan but I am just calling it like i see it. The real advantage is Dre, he cannot play the way he did against NW or we will not win.

As long as they play tough and keep it close I don't feel a loss is going to destroy this team, the Kohl center is a tough place to win, especially when they are evenly matched, a blow out loss would be disastrous though.

They way they have been playing a win might be considered stealing one at this point.

Based on MATH CUPS!!! alone the Gophers should win if they do not self destruct. Damn "ifs"...

Key stat of this game will probably be turnovers.

Minnesota 20, Wisconsin 5.

Badgers win 72-51.

Excellent post. However, if Bo was given your roster for a couple of years, it is likely that everybody would transfer after the first year and Bo would have to play walk-ons the next year. Playing for Bo is no picnic. He only recruits a certain head type that can handle being benched and is humble enough to learn from their mistakes and patient enough to learn to do things his way over a long period of time. An obstinant player who gets frustrated easily will not be very successful at UW. Top of the line blue chip recruits and athletes very rarely have the sort of temperament to play for Ryan. The ones that do, go to Duke and/or are in the NBA sooner rather than later.

Cliff notes version.

Andre Hollins vs. Jackson (adv Minnesota)
Austin Hollins vs. Brust (adv Minnesota)
Mbakwe vs. Berggren (push; both are really good players)
Coleman vs. Bruiser (adv Wisconsin)
Williams vs. Evans (adv Minnesota, though both are struggling)
Bench: Wisconsin (Dekker alone provides a healthy margin)
Coaching: Wisconsin

Totals (using Ryder Cup scoring system)
Minnesota 3.5, Wisconsin 3.5 (home court swings it the Badgers' way?)

If Bo had Joe Coleman, he would get him playing under control, teach him to value the ball above all else and Coleman would probably wind up improving his shooting numbers because Wisconsin's players always seem to improve their shooting. Joe would probably be taught the art of the pull-up jumper in the lane...Not leaving your feet and then trying to dribble..you know, little things like dribbling and fundamentals. Things that Tubby apparently can't or won't teach. If Rodney were in Bo's system, I have no doubt that Rodney would be all-conference by now and a lock for the NBA lottery.

I'll buy this. Rodney Williams is very Alando Tucker like. The similarities are almost amazing, really. Tucker was the runner-up for the National Player of the Year, BTW.

This is the dumbest thing ever written on gopherhole. We are all dumber for reading it.

The only player in their starting line up I'd like on our team is Berggren. Everyone else is solid at best, they just fit Bo's slow grind mentality.

Go back to your Sid Hartman world of denial where everything is gonna be just fine...

Don't you think NBA GM's could figure out if a player hasn't progressed due to bad coaching. If that was the case, then Rodney Williams still would be a lottery pick, all he would need is a "good coach."

It's funny how the perception of Bo's "slow grind mentality" both hurts and helps UW be successful. It hurts because we lose out on recruits, but it helps because there aren't very many programs who know how to play fundamentally sound basketball, which enables UW to beat teams like Indiana in Assembly Hall. UW has never played slow on purpose and pace isn't part of their mentality or strategy. It's just the way they end up playing in order to take good shots, keep the other team from taking good shots and not turn the ball over.

I think Bruzewiscz would be an awesome player to fill in at 3 positions. He is a solid player on both ends and smart....Shoots pretty well when left open and seems to get key rebounds....takes charges...I would love having him. Also woulnd't mind having Jackson or Brust...They definitely take minutes from Andre and Coleman.

When did Bergeron get a low post game, because I haven't seen it. He is a charmin soft jump shooting big man and cannot match Mbawke on interior. Mbawke will not want to venture out of the lane to contest his jump shots which will be a problem. Ryan destroyed Rodney last year and I expect the same this year, he's too big. Ingram would be a better matchup. Dre will struggle with turnovers due to poor decisions and they will not give him many open threes. His inability or refusal to penetrate the lane will keep this from being an elite team.

I'll give you the Bruiser comments even though I don't totally agree... but your comments about Jackson and Brust taking Andre and Coleman's minutes is f-ing ridiculous, you have truly gone off the deep end. EVERY SINGLE one of my Badger friends would admit that Andre is far and away the best PG currently playing on either of these teams. You should just stop posting here. No better yet, stop watching all basketball period, you clearly have no idea of what you are watching.

I hope we win just so I can see what your reaction is. You probably wont' show your face, or say something like "the Badgers gave it away, this team still hasn't proven it can win a big game."
