Gopher Softball 2025

Was she also the DH? I didn’t watch just following stats.
I think she pinch hit for Schwartz and got a hit, not sure. Like you, I read the game, not watched it. We must all be kinda whacko; in this high tech age here we are like reading ticker tape the way it was done in the 1950s.

Love the ticker tape reference. I remember working in a radio station and getting news updates via teletype.

In the 1940s & 50s Mutual Radio Network sent a game-of-the-day each day so you could hear the teletype or ticker machine sending the "action" by machine. If it said "fly to CF," the studio announcer had to invent the excitement on the run. Was the "fly" a weak popup or a 400-ft drive?

Do our softball season tickets only cover Sunday's game? If so, I think that's cheap move
When I downloaded the pass to US Bank, it didn't have a specific date. The last time they played at US bank, it was the same thing. As I recall, the pass is for all days of the event. Also, I thought the pass allowed you and a guest to enter. I am trying to get affirmation regarding the passes we received.

The information that I received is as I expected. Your pass is good for all three days. In addition, the number of people that can be admitted via the pass, is equal to the number of season tickets that you have.

That's my understanding as well. You'll need to bring your Gopher Sports ticket to the USBank Stadium box office. They will scan the QR code and give you tickets for admission.

I was happy they beat NDSU. It was fun to watch them in person this early in the year. I missed this last year. I like the setup in US Bank. The crowd isnt too bad.

Susa enters the game in the 6th. Two walks and three Ks! Looks like she has some heat. Nice to see her get some action, wonder if she has been injured or just needs more development time.
4 K’s in 2 innings. She could be the strike out pitcher the gophers need. Look forward to seeing more from her. Werner is doing great since taking over second. Hopefully Burnett can figure out how to lay down a bunt and not leave runners stranded (5 in game two).

Went to the games last night and enjoyed them. Completely nonprofessional observations:
  • Pitching - thought all three pitchers did well. Schwartz has developed a very good change-up. Susa was steady in her first action of the season. Also noted that Macy no longer had the heavy brace on her right leg.
  • Defense - looked extremely good. Tobias covers a lot of ground and made a nice throw from deep in the hole at short. Hosick was troubled by overhand throws - the two she tried bounced to first base.
  • Offense - I hope it's still a work in progress - way too many popups.

Snippes looks like a fine all-around athlete. Would she be better playing in the field and hitting than pitching? It was surprising that Schwartz let Miami back in the game today, but she pitched well. It's hard not to feel for the Miami pitcher. I suspect she gave it more than 100%.

Snippes has been swinging the bat well. She’s got some velocity on her pitches but still struggles with command.

Did they really just lose to the Tommies? Lord help this team.
Their defense, or lack of did them in. Up 5-3 going to the 6th and two errors allowed St Thomas to retake the lead. Then Snippes hits into a DP in the bottom half with the bases loaded. Feel bad for Schwartz who pitched well and not a single earned run allowed. Any opinions regarding if Susa becoming their primary reliever?

After I followed every Gophers game on stats this season, I was eager to see the them live today.
So I drove 150 miles for a twin bill. With Gophers v. Tommies, what I saw looked like a mid-major team, not DI. The defensive mistakes, weak hitting, and poor coaching decisions were an embarrassment to the Gophers program. The Gophers started the game showing little enthusiasm to play. If Schwartz wasn't ticked off by her lack of support, she should have been. I won't mention the coaching mistakes.
