Gophers romp 7-1 over Spartans:
On a perfect day for soccer, the University of Minnesota soccer team played nearly a perfect game against Big Ten foe Michigan State, winning 7-1 at home with six different players scoring goals.
April Bockin scored once for the Gophers, and added a school-record tying four assists to help the Gophers punish the Spartans at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
“April has been awesome this weekend. She stretched teams and was very dangerous the entire weekend,” head coach Stefanie Golan said. “She is a player when she has the ball at her feet coming at you; you are going to be on your heels because anything can happen. She had a really solid and impressive performance today.”
The six different players scored for Minnesota, which is the most by the team since the team had eight different players score against the University of Nebraska-Omaha in a 9-1 rout on Sept. 13, 2015.
