Assistant Krystle Seidel accepts head coaching position at Macalester:
After 10 years as a part of the University of Minnesota soccer program, Krystle Seidel has accepted a job as the next head coach at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.
"I want to thank Kim Chandler for this unbelievable opportunity at Macalester College," Seidel said. "I will forever be indebted to the University of Minnesota soccer program for taking me in with open arms as a student-athlete and allowing me an extremely remarkable start to my coaching career, and giving me opportunities to grow as a person, coach, and leader over the past nine years."
"I want to thank University of Minnesota athletic department for its support through this process," Seidel added. "I am especially grateful for Stefanie Golan's leadership and mentoring over the past six years and Mikki Denney Wright's willingness to make me a part of history at Minnesota Soccer as both a player and a coach. The time I have spent with the program has shaped who I am as a person and I will forever be appreciative of that. I love Gopher Soccer and plan to support it as an alum for years to come."
After one year in a Maroon and Gold uniform, Seidel jumped right into the coaching scene. During Seidel's time with Minnesota as a coach, the Gophers have made the NCAA Tournament four times, and helped win the 2016 Big Ten regular season and tournament title. Seidel has primary coached defenders in her time with the program, and helped coach her fifth player to All-Big Ten honors. In 2017, the Gophers also qualified for the Big Ten Tournament for the 10th straight season, making it every year Seidel has been a part of the staff.
