The 16th feels fair, considering all the unknowns and the need to backfill an entirely new roster with mostly mid-major talent.

I also saw the preseason KenPom rankings are out, and the Gophers are #73.

#73 is higher than any Johnson team has ever finished the season (unsure where they started each year), I expect this team will finish higher than that.

#73 is still the 16th team in the league. The first 15 teams are in the top 57, and 7 are in the top 25 (if you're wondering - Rutgers and PSU are behind). All of those fanbases think they'll do as well or better, too, because ... well, because.

These preseason ranks are so much more of a crapshoot than they used to be. No one has a good idea how these rosters made up of after-market parts will run.
