Gopher Hockey Season Thread 25-26

This 5-20-3 Notre Dame team is a great test for Minnesota. Rombach not being able to skate backwards leading to a goal was fun.

How can ANYONE watch this team and not want a new staff and a roster overhaul

Pride on Ice. Whoopeeeee. We win in shoot out over a terrible Notre Dame team.

Better than losing 2/3 at home to them?

I hate that I love this team so much. Terrible for my mental health as it ruins way too many weekends hahahaha

I could care less about wins now. All I care about is what will it take to get Bob fired. I love all of my Gopher teams, but we gotta get to gettin' and do it NOW. Next year is a must to have a new staff in place and right the Gopher hockey ship.

Edit: Note, I put way more emphasis on Gopher hockey to be good. More than any other Gopher team (except Women's hockey), and all Minnesota professional teams. It's absurd for this team to not be good and competing for a championship every year. (with all of the built in advantages that we have).

Right there with you. That was painful to watch last night. You said it earlier... mediocre high school quality. I think Rock Ridge could have been competitive with the Irish last night.

Yep. A bit like watching ping pong with goalies. I haven't seen that many turnovers
in a game since I coached a U10 team.
I coach that level right now and have said variations of “you worked so hard to get the puck, then gave it right back” roughly 1,000 times since October.

And I was seriously considering going to Ann Arbor for that series. (way back in the Fall when the schedule came out). Yikes! Glad I didn't book that trip.

Same here. Multiple road trips planned I cancelled. Frozen four coming for at least some good hockey,

I get it. If you look at it as "what I get for my money", it is not a good year for that. For me, road trips are part hockey and part making memories with friends. I went to Denver this year, not a cheap trip, and even if they would have lost, I would have considered it a fun trip. I have been going to Frozen Fours for 20+ years, and to be honest, the games are secondary to the time we spend with friends we have met through the years.

Yeah our ff is with friends so we go every year. The road trips are just me and my significant other that I have convinced she loves Gopher hockey so those get moved down. Would’ve done Denver if not for work for exactly the reason you mentioned

5 games remaining and this team is on a trajectory to tie a Gopher single season record for loses. 104 years of hockey…
