Gopher Hockey Season Thread 25-26

one period to make the weekend worth it. Come on gophs!

Rud goal should stand. Gotta make it stand up. Gophs have had the better grade As tonight. Need to FINISH

Max Rud and Leo Gruba. 10 minutes left two goal lead

I fucking hate North Dakota fans. Please hold this lead.
Went to college there. Literally the worst fan base and it’s not close

People think Wisconsin and Iowa are bad and it’s not even in the same stratosphere

Game puck max rud.
Kid played a very solid game even outside the goal. Super happy for him

This weekend vs UMD might say a lot about both programs. UMD playing pretty well to start year against so so opposition. Have really good top line but lack depth.
If Gophers handle them both games, could be a harbinger of a successful season.

really solid weekend for the B10 in the NPI for the conference, which will help the gophers as we all know they're going to be a bubbler at best
PSU sweep (though that game getting to OT does dampen it a bit)
MSU sweeps BU on the road
Michigan sweeps RMU
ND sweeps SLU
MN road split (road wins are a big deal; they get 1.2 weighting compared with home being 0.8).

overall weekend results put the B10 in 1st in the interconference records. NCHC has a lot of record inflation with almost 20 games against the CCHA so far.

UMD won 3. They are in Minnesota.
Exactly. Love UMD. The Gophers should hang their heads in shame if/when ever losing to another MN school. If I was the Gophers AD I would tell my new hockey coach if UMD as a better team than the Gophers in any 2 year period I will fire you and hire their coach for double your salary. The MN sports excuses are endless and unacceptable

Huge game on TV tonight for those that would rather watch good college hockey instead of the Vikings choking as usual
UM who looks to have a super squad offensively with their CHL pickups and a star CHL goalie vs the reigning champs on BTN at 6PM

Townsend was assaulted on campus and it was really bad. Dinkytown is such a shithole now and you can see why many parents would steer their hockey players away from the U. Probably the scum teenagers from across the river that show up and wreak havoc cause their parents have no idea where they are at night.

I don’t dispute at all that much of Minneapolis is a dump, but it’s also entirely possible he got in a fight at a frat party or something stupid like that.

Considering there was a crime alert put out, that's not a drunk fight or even brawl. The problem is about 15 years ago the U lost all guts in giving students useful information in crime alerts and we will never hear anything about who did this to him from Minneapolis' side, either.

considering you can call and say you were assaulted and they will put out a crime alert until they investigate it, yes it could. I still get the alerts from UPD as well as the city from being a student there.

we'll have no idea as they barely ever release any updated info. posts like the prior also add zero benefit to anyone involved, nor are even a talking point as there's really no "discussion" to be had. Dinky is dumpier for a lot of reasons. It's made worse by shit housing/shit landlords and a large audience with limited options coupled next to being in a big city. Our own news stations running this because it will get clicks and viewers (they don't give a shit about making it better; they just want your money and comments, hence why they'll release it however they want).

Campus safety versus safety of the city have some correlation, but generally campus has been vastly safer. Car jackings have been a problem. Violent crimes are actually pretty damn comparable. Sexual crimes are about the same as peers. These are all raw numbers rather than rates. The stats are all published and publicly available.

It sucks it happened to Townsend. That's really all that needs to be said and hope he has a speedy recovery and is back playing again soon.

Michigan is a hell of a team.

MSU/UM/PSU are on a different level in the conference. PSU looks to be the worst of the three. And looks like recruiting CHL was not a bad idea.

Really interesting game. Michigan had 14 shots in total 5x5. Just killed wmu on the dot 41-17. xG 5.1-4.1 Michigan. Such a strange one that looks way more lopsided on the scoreboard

I have no idea what happened here, but a lot of cities have started putting out crime alerts and reporting crime in a way for political motives. It's why you hear things like "North Loop is as dangerous as North Minneapolis" because it counts a bar fight the same as a mugging.

Wow. Watching the game tonight.... we are not good. I am generally a positive person but... yikes. No way this team even makes the tourney. Zero chance.

Yeah sure doesn’t look like they’re going to do it. Luckily the npi doesn’t care how you lose so if they split at least it’s salvageable.

What a weird year so far. BU is under .500, und and PSU have both lost to clarkson, and Miami is undefeated
