Gopher Hockey Recruiting

MSU will replace Augustine with a first round superstar goalie. JFC. People actually think the Gopher NIL is anywhere close to MSU and UM's.

I think for your sanity you should probably take a break from the hockey discussion for awhile. At the rate you are going your liable to have a breakdown. It’s entertainment for gods sake. Your life shouldn’t revolve around it.

In the NIL/CHL age, the probability of the Gophers winning titles is lower than it's been since the pre Brooks era. It sucks. Sort of feels like being a Gopher football fan but not that horrible.

The way you phrase things is fricking ridiculous. Find me one quote. One. Where anybody on this board claims to know that the Gophers NIL is the same as MSUs'. There have been a few people, myself included, who state that nobody knows what the NIL funding is. I stand by that.

You use the "no one knows" angle because you're either too blind or too much of a homer to know we don't need to see the data to know all the rumors we hear are true about MSU having tons of money from guys like Magic Johnson and the Gophers having squat because they can't even get their hockey collectives off the ground.

Look at the quality of recruits in the last couple years. Minnesota has been left in the dust.

Let's state it another way:
Do you believe the Gophers have anywhere near the NIL of MSU? You won't answer it, you can't even say what you believe.

I use the "no one knows" angle because... no one does know. Including you. If the sole factor in determining where recruits sign is money, then yeah it would be safe to assume that we have less. But you say Bob is a terrible recruiter and terrible coach. You say the assistants suck. You say players don't develop here. You say that the University sucks academically. You say that the campus now sucks and nobody would want their kid to go here. If all that is true, is it not possible that those are the primary factors? Seems to me if all that was true, then our recruiting classes would suck big time, no matter how much money we had. More importantly, if all that was true, why would you still be a fan? You really should get the hell out of here and buy a BU sweater.

Yes, I believe that MSU likely does have more NIL funding devoted to hockey. I have never said otherwise. But I don't know that to be a fact and I don't know the magnitude of the difference. Nobody does, yet you claim to. Make you happy?

And btw, you didn't answer my question about finding a single quote on this board from someone claiming to know that Gopher hockey had as much NIL funding as MSU. You won't answer that because you can't.

Another likely future NHL goalie heading to the Big Ten - OSU

Conboy getting some love from prospect writers as one to watch as a possible first rounder. His development curve has been excellent this year

Think may be a bit aggressive right now, but we’ve seen other developmental power forwards get that projection

always tough to project out quite this far, but some very talented kids in this group from MN with an overall class that looks better than what we've been seeing for awhile.

Potential future Gopher (via Ben Barr) 9th grader Maverick Mckinnon tries to punch a ticket to state tonight with STA at a packed new UST arena.

Jeff Jackson (formed ND coach) with a really good interview on the future of hockey, the NTDP, Jr recruiting, and NIL. Probably a bit of the same kind of things Bob would say and the changing of the guard/era, but also kind of sad this is what college sports has become

NDTP D MN Carson Scott
UND
BU Mich St UST UMD as the other finalists.

Interesting it wasn't even a guy on UNDs radar/list.

Good player. projects pretty similarly to the couple MN has from the NTDP team

Wyatt Cullen says plan is for he and Brooks to come in next year.

If that’s the plan you need to move some others out and cut ties with Nevers unless there’s a huge pile of attrition

There will be plenty of turnover with a new staff

Carson Pilgrim is gonna get bumped from UND now that they can recruit CHL. I'd imagine he'll be looking at UMD to join a sure fire contender next year. But the Gophers will be needing bodies so who knows. Could be a middle six guy and second liner his junior/senior years.

Need to retain
Ziemer
Mooney
(2)

Can retain for at least one more year
Moore
Moe (prove it year)
Townsend (prove it year)
Hendrickson (prove it year)
Pritchard (prove it year)
(7)

Bring in
W Cullen
B Cullen (13th-15th forward)
Kvasnicka
(10)

Bring from Maine
Poirier
Nadeau
Mckinnon
(13)

Transfer Portal/CHL
(15)

Cut ties is fine
Ludtke
Pahlsson
Harris
Falloon

Above lineup would not be terrible. But we all know the big issue is the D which is probably not possible to save in one offseason.

Maybe take these two kids and call it a day at forward since you're unlikely to get any of the major superstars

I don’t even know how you repair this d core in one year, so brutal. Whipple has shown some improvement I guess but who is there to be excited about

Need to have a huge year in the CHL and portal to have any sort of relevance next year.

I don't think it's possible to be relevant next year. Because of the D mess.

After seeing the absolutely pathetic responses to losing by the Edina and Tonka kids, now more than ever the new coach needs to try to get more Moorhead/Warroad/Hibbing type kids.
