Gopher Football fans should feel happy and fortunate heading into this season...

Win or lose to TCU, I am thankful that Mr. Jerry Kill and his staff landed at Minnesota. When you consider the facilities at Minnesota and the situation Tim Brewster created, I don't think we could have gotten a better coach for the situation our football program was in. I don't think MN could have found a man who would have worked harder or done better to get all the things done at Minnesota, including the facilities project. I don't think Minnesota could have found a person that would care more about building a legacy at Minnesota than Jerry Kill. I don't think Minnesota could have found a coach willing to stay at Minnesota after finding success. We needed a program builder, a charismatic person who could change an entire culture (I'm talking beyond the football program, I'm talking the whole state), and we got fortunate to get that person after 40+ years of absence. Getting the stadium back on campus was HUGE! Getting a university president who gets it, is HUGE! Getting someone like Jerry Kill, was unique and fortunate.

So as we head into this season, be appreciative, enjoy it! It's a long season. Have confidence, have belief! Because I think you are going to see a team grow immensely as the season goes on. I think we are truly entering an era where we will be considered a perennial contender for the Big Ten West. Feel the excitement, believe it, keep the faith, and Ski U Mah! Gopher football hasn't been in this good of a position since the 1960's!

Great post! But I still want to beat TCU. Opportunities like this don't come around too often.

I remember sitting in the stands during the Brewster years and asking myself is this as low as it gets??? The losses to South Dakota and NDSU (and almost SDSU), the blowout loss to OSU on national tv (the only time I have left a game in the 3rd quarter), and the pounding we received by Kill's Northern Illinois squad. There couldn't have been more than 5000 people still in the stands during the 4th quarter of that game.

So for all the Gopher fans that have stuck with the team through the lean years, enjoy Thursday night and the season! Kill has done some remarkable work...

There will be some adversity. Don't panic.

You must not have been there for the 55-0 beating against Iowa. I remember leaving during the 3rd quarter of that one.....

Goldy and Galt - You're killin' me.

For bringing back Brewster, here's your punishment:

"Bitter End Club" now replaced by "Better End Club."

My wife still complains about me making her wait for the last bitter second to tick off the clock at the Metrodome. I wanted to be there.
