Gopher fans are better at being offended than anything else.

Guess everybody else that was offended, including David Axelrod and the state of Minnesota's epilepsy foundation, have just been waiting for the opportunity to join this Gopher football cult.

If there was ever any doubt about how much of a jerk Souhan is, this should just about seal it.

The Dean of the U of M School of Public Health
The U of M VP for Equity & Diversity

I emailed the editor at the Strib and suggested they listen to the Noon show and ask themselves if they really want this guy representing them. Then I cancelled my online subscription and forwarded the confirmation email with my note that until they fire Souhan they will not get a dime from me and I will never click on a link and I will promote the boycotting of their paper.

I almost started a Moveon.org petition to get the guy fired...but figured that it's their right to employ the guy and my right to not read or listen to him.

I want to boycott Judd & Dubay after this, but do I have to listen to Bobblehead VikesVox as the alternative?

My wife was away for the weekend. We didn't talk much last night, as she arrived late. She had no idea any of this happened. We were just watching the Kare 11 news. They did a story about Jerry's presser and then read aloud the offensive comments from Souhan's column. She was shocked and appalled and asked me if he'd been fired yet. She has no axe to grind, has no idea who Souhan is and hates few things on this earth as much as she hates football. And yet, she found this arrogant jackass's comments offensive and disgusting.

I went back and listened to the podcast of Zulgad and Dubay's show. Here are some of the terms used to describe Gopher Football, and Gopher fans: Sad, pathetic, gullible, a cult, an embarrassment, insulting to my intelligence. The improvement of the team under Kill is "grossly over-exaggerated."
The bowl game last year was "a disgusting loss to a bad team." The offense is "anemic."

And then, they go off about how Gopher fans "just look for reasons to be offended." Gee - I wonder why?

Also, Dubay kept saying that he did not call for Kill to resign - but, if he keeps having seizures, "serious decisions will have to be made." only - he never said what those "serious decisions" would be.

One caller tried to steer the conversation back to Souhan, and one of the hosts admitted that Souhan took some cheap shots, but then Dubay started complaining about people taking cheap shots at him on Twitter by bringing up his drug problems, and the conversation went off the rails again.

As mentioned, when Souhan was on, they kept harping about Gopher fans as a cult, who are (somehow) being mind-controlled by the U.

I listened to almost two hours of the podcast, and the gist was that the fans supporting Kill are irrational, and the Twin Cities media, "just wants to have a conversation about the issues."

It's a good thing I work during the day, so I'm not tempted to listen to this train wreck on a more regular basis.

Good job Shorty.

I thought Dubay was going to explode when his addiction issue came up. The guy is pathetic.

Reminds of a couple of days before the Thursday nite opener. They were going on and on about how the Gophers should not schedule a game the same time as the Vikings because they can not compete with the Vikings/even exhibition game..blah blah blah.

I emailed the studio and pointed out the Gopher game was scheduled first and the question should be why did the Vikings schedule their game same time as the Gophers.

They read my email on the air and then followed up by saying the point remains that the Gophers should not play games the same time as the Vikes because they can't compete with the Vikes. No acknowledgement that they had it wrong. These guys just don't get it.

My comments:
The agenda of Jim Souhan, which has landed him up to his neck in trouble has been clear for a long time. Patrick R is often noted for his pure hatred of Gopher Football, but Souhan has trumped him and showed his cards week ago on his Sunday AM show. Souhan was in some sort of "debate" about ranking fanbases and support of said fanbases in the TC, and Jim Souhan went into a tirade about Gopher Football fans.

Jim Souhan stated that Gopher Football fans were delusional and and group he had no understanding of. I cannot recall all of the comments but Pantherhawk could not have done a better job of trying to use the power of media to denigrate a program.

After I read a bit more recently about Souhan's personal life, I now better understand the tone of his radio comments in the context of his need to project himself and his issues on to something else, but the hypocrisy is troublesome. Souhan has mentioned at times his connection to Missouri Football? Missouri?????? Minnesota???? and Gopher fans are somehow delusional for supporting a lethargic and dormant program.

I suspect that a counselor would find a lot submerged "stuff" to fix in Jimmy boy over the course of a 45 minute session.

I have to admit Dubay makes me laugh, he can be funny on the radio, especially if the alternative over my lunch hour is PA. Ugh. I emailed Judd and Dubay 2 days ago and told them I was done listening as long as they continued to have Souhan on their show.

Meh. Judd and Dubay could come into my house and kick my dog repeatedly and I'd still listen to their show over that yammering aging hipster/Viking shill on KFAN.

Yeah, I caught a tiny bit of their show today. Then when I got home later, I listened to their podcast about the Gophers/Kill. Now, at around the same time this segment was live, I had tweeted with Dubay and got myself blocked. Of course, I didn't realize he misread the CityPages article and was all up in a bundle just a few moments before my tweets to him. He misread my tweets and took offense.

But, you are spot on. From what I gathered, it was JUDD that brought up how, in his mind, Gopher fans were cultish and were offended by everything. Even alluded to Doober's fandom.

Basically, I was asking for clarification on Dubay's comments that ran circles (Dubay kept saying that he did not call for Kill to resign - but, if he keeps having seizures, "serious decisions will have to be made." only - he never said what those "serious decisions" would be) and he misunderstood my comment and flipped his lid.

What I got out of the entire show (which is sad because while I've never really LIKED Judd, I have always had a soft spot for Puffy) was they weren't going to admonish Souhan for his moronic article but support him.

PMacky did the same, although in a far better way which I respect. He mentioned how he COMPLETELY disagreed with Souhan's article; the premise AND the snark. But while I respect that he actually mentioned that, he ripped The Daily Gopher's Chris and his article because of writing his own 'article', he instead picked apart Souhan's masterpiece (apparently this is taboo in the written sports 'journalism' world). I felt like Mackey thumbed his nose down upon the lowly 'little guy' from his pulpit, which may not have been his intention, but certainly came across like it.

In an alternate world, I'd love to know what 1500's take would be had someone like Sansavere written that column. My feeling is that Dubay would have ripped him up and down and called him a coward, because that's what he does. The point remains that the topics talked about in the column were on point, but the point was missed thanks to the tone that Souhan chose to take. I'll give Souhan credit though, I haven't listened to 1500 since the novelty of Dubay being back wore off. They've gotten a couple of hours out of me the last two days.

You could take a lesson from Gtod.

I haven't listened to any sports radio in this town for years. I don't think I'm missing anything. I visit sites like this for news. What am I getting from listening to those guys? For me, nothing. If you enjoy them, find them funny...good for you. But I'm happy I did that, and now I'm happy that I sent the Strib a note saying I was done with them.

There is a reason why I listen to KFAN.

What a great example of how bad 1500 is. When KFAN is held as a paragon of broadcasting excellence, it's time to just burn the whole mother down. Spread salt on the land, and rebuild a Twin Cities media from the ground up.

Facts don't lie, if you garner a 1.5 share of listeners that is a cult. Its pathetic, pitiful, and paltry.

This had me chuckling for a while, Unreg. Well said.

And I listen to KFAN. Best of the Lousy.
