Gopher-centric Portal Short List

I'm not sure we played zone to cover player deficiencies, I think it was because we were limited players (which is a team deficiency) and zone defense has fewer fouls (no fouling out which we couldn't afford) and takes less energy that MtM...which if you are playing 40 minutes matters. If we have a bench, I'm confident we'll be in MtM most of the time.
Yep, when you only have 6 guys it changes everything. When you can actually guard someone maybe the disparity in athleticism won't be nearly as great.

Rumor is portal invites are asking for 1 million and people kept aren't getting quite as much. My guess is 800k for Ausma, Durkin, and JCJ. 1 million for Evans and N Groves. I believe the first 4 million that isn't NIL $$$ is shared pretty evenly---so at around 300k for the rest.
Makes sense. I assume there's a minimum from the revenue share but some sort of graduated rate for freshman vs sophomores etc

I want this dude bad. I watched a brief Michigan podcast that covered their transfers, and both hosts lamented losing this guy. Sounds like he had some injuries, but thought even as stacked as they were, he would have contributed if it hadn't been for that.

Just an insane offer list out of high school.

We don't need to gamble on an injury prone person... Had enough of injuries

As a program we've dealt with a lot of injuries I've rthe past decade... That is all

It sounds like (reading between the lines), it may have been a courtesy from May to get him the medical redshirt. He was hurt, missed some time, but consistently cracking the rotation wasn't happening (obvs just a stacked lineup).

I think you gamble on this guy. The Michigan podcasters were saying he was lighting up practice, and fully expect him to ball out wherever he ends up.

Yes but, lol
If we think he's healthy, if we did a physical, and if his cost is similar to our other guys...I'd definitely go for it. He'd be our most talented player.

All you guys ripping on Nolan Groves for lack of scoring in college should probably watch this video versus Duke in Madison Square Garden. TT vs Duke

We already have an athletic big with length coming in Mpoyi. We need a shooting big- Wisconsin type C.

The difference is this guy has major skills he is a legit high 4 star and marginally even a 5 star talent coming out of high school. He would be a major pick up/ meaning he would be worth that gamble!

I've been wondering about that the last few days as people discuss our bad luck with injuries this past year and debate whether we should roll with some talented guys who have had some injury history (Grady being one).

In professional leagues a physical is part of the free agency and trade process and can nix a deal. Is that part of this process? Or are we going on guy's word and is that part of the issue: guys saying they're healthy, getting a pay day, and they really aren't.

IDK but we are paying them and we have a hospital on campus. I would think if somebody has a known injury history...you'd verify they are now healthy and everything looks like it is supposed to look. But, IDK

Absolutely worth it. Have other Bigs if he can’t go. Wouldn’t take the risk on a guard though.

This be a major pick up 6-6 SG and can shoot lights out. Got hurt last year after 8 games but back healthy! Hope he picks us. This would give us options can be a SF and SG good handling skills can shoot off dribble and create shot. If they then get Evans, and Matas or Kapke that be a solid Big Ten Team next year full of shooters and give Niko multiple combo options! Will need the center recruit to give us 8-12 minutes a game n be a rebounder n defensive force!

If he puts up Tyson #'s the amount of announcer puns about Winters heating up the Barn will be painful.

Portal visits and photos are not like HS recruiting visits where the recruit says,”Blessed to be offered by MN”. To me this signals a deal in the works. Thus, Denuisas likely out. Could be wrong tho. I trust Niko and the War Room board.

Except the added ?? At that top

Yea, kids… Matas a 4 at 6-9 so I guess we could have both. ?? I would think some announcements today before the weekend. :)

A big of some kind is necessary, I think the profile depends on the staff's belief in Mpoyi to contribute this season. I'd assume Winters and Celiscar are options for the same roster spot. Evans seems to be the PG preference. Even with three more transfers (big, wing, PG) there's still room for two more players.
