1 week to go in conference play. All-BIG Awards next week.

2nd team GG & Tori?
HM Battle, Braun & Hart?
All Defensive Tori?

With GG’s scoring falling off, Tori is 20th in league scoring and GG is 30th. 1st team seems off the table. Hope they both make the second team (10 players on 1st & 2nd).

The All Defensive team has been a 5-player team. Tough to make, but maybe for Tori.

I have been hearing it is now 8.
 



All Big Ten Awards later today, if schedule holds from last year.

Final conference-play stats have Tori finishing 24th in scoring, and GG finishing 31st in scoring. Scoring isn't everything, but it substantially drives awards. Guessing Tori's defense will carry her through to the All-BIG 2nd Team. Guessing GG ends up Honorable Mention, with perhaps multiple other Gophers. Tori still good chance for All BIG Defensive Team.

Coach P as dark horse for Coach of the Year? Still think Close wins, and Jan Jensen and Coach P split other votes.
 


Battle had an amazing run during the win streak and end of season. Could see her slipping into HM outside chance of second team? Coach Greene from the Illini said in her presser that Gophers had elite players at all 5 positions (if I heard that right). Nice accolades from a rival coach.

The Big Ten is so deep talent wise good players are going to be left off some of these lists. I agree that Close will be COY, even tho she has all that talent to go undefeated with the caliber of teams they face is a tremendous feat. Agree second choice would be Coach P and Jensen from Iowa. There are several elite coaches in the BIG. Thanks Coach P for making Gopher WBB relevant again.
 

It's a team of five. Has anyone tried to guess who? Betts, Rice, Olson and Heiden might be the four most likely. And Jazzy Davidson? Her team isn't great but she has gaudy stats.

The coaches appreciated the Gophers more than media. Not a surprise. Grace and Tori both 2nd Team by coaches (the best result possible), but only Grace by media. Tori and Amaya made the coaches All-Defensive Team, but neither made the media All-Defensive Team.
 




I guess an upbeat way to look at it is that all the starters were mentioned, and they are such a balanced team that that feels right .

The media has no clue what makes a good defensive player, so I’m not as angry about it as I should be.
