Will be in Las Vegas for homecoming vs Purdue. My job is to find place/bar to watch game. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sports books on the strip will have pretty much every game. If you bet on something (might be a minimum depending on which casino - $20 should do fine at most places) they will give you drinks.

im in vegas right now...need a place to watch the game saturday...any ideas?

You lucky SOB's....I love Vegas.

I've watched games at ESPN Zone at NY NY....BUT you have to get there early and there is no guarantee that they will have the Gopher game on in the big room. If you are there with a group I would recommend asking if there are any 'party' rooms (they really are just rooms with its own TV and a door, nothing too special) that you could rent. I believe the rent is just a minimum purchase per hour. That is the way to go.

Otherwise I would do the sports book. Which one? Good question. Caesar's is huge, but for some reason seating is limited. Lot's of people just standing around, which makes the area pretty darn festive.
Good thing about Caesar's is that its close to about everything else just in case it doesn't work out you can hit any of the other casino sports books.

I don't know if there are any Gopher bars here. I've heard that there are 2 Viking bars - (I know that's not your question) and do not know if those same places are Gopher bars on Saturdays - my guess is no. I can ask a guy at work who might know. As for sports books I have heard that the Hilton is that largest. I do not know if that means most seating or most/biggest screens, square feet, or whatever. It might be screens because my memory is that the wall that they are on is high and wide. If placing bets I have read that its best to do so at the bigger, strip books. Their payouts are apparently larger than at smaller places (avoid Leon's(?) they have the lowest payouts for winning bets). Best of luck and have fun.

South Point Hotel and Casino is on the Blvd. but south of the strip. Very accommodating, they've always put a gopher game on for us. A lot of drink specials and Nathans Hot Dogs for a buck and $2 beer. The race and Sports book area is good-sized and there's a LOT of screens if you count the adjacent lounge. It's full on Sundays but we've always got a seat on Saturdays.

There's two or three Blue Ox cafe bars that are Minnesota bars. We've got in twice for Vikings games and couldn't get in once. I've heard that at least one of them also has Gopher games.

I've done the college football thing in Vegas before. The Flamingo Hilton put the Gopher win at Michigan on for us a couple years ago. It was a blast. I would suggest putting small wagers on a bunch of games. We did that (along with about 50 other people) and had a great time all day. Also got some free drinks and food vouchers.

I was just there last week-end. I watched the Gopher game in my room since it was on ESPN and it was 9 freaking AM.

However, for NFL, I know the Hilton has a large theatre they turn into several giant big screens. It's really cool and smoke free. I don't know if they do this for college games or not.

There's also a 'locals' casino called Sam's Town off the strip. It's very nice with movie theatres and resteraunts etc. all within the casino. They have an awesome sports book with like 15 huge big screens. If you have a car I'd try that. They do have a shuttle to the strip but I have no idea where on the strip you'd need to go to catch it. Next time I go to Vegas I'm going to try and stay there, though I don't know what it runs compared to the other stuff.

Every major casino on the strip has a sports book with enough TV's to show all the games. But usually only a couple big screens, meaning the Gophers get relegated to the little TV in the corner. And if you don't smoke it's usually pretty uncomfortable.

ESPN Zone is OK, but the food is over-rated and they usually have a minimum amount per hour that you have to order. I'd go elsewhere.

Also, if you're there before 1 AM or so on Friday night, and you want to bet, do it then. First, you won't feel like getting up at 8 AM to go place wagers, and even if you make it there in time, there's always a mad rush at about 8:50 to get bets in on the early games.

Remember, at 9:00, there is only eastern & central time zone games, so the chance of getting the Gophers is better than the 12:30 game.
