That was a really good game — Minnesota gave Cal everything it could handle, even without Darius Taylor. Ijeboi ran hard, Brockington made big catches, and Lindsey looked poised leading that long TD drive before halftime.

When you went up 14-10 in the third it felt like momentum was yours, and the Gopher defense kept Cals running game in check most of the night.

In the end, it came down to a few mistakes — the muffed punt, some penalties, missed field goal, and some questionable calls — but those are fixable,

For us - it was a hard-fought win against a tough team that’s going to cause plenty of problems in the Big Ten.

Thanks. Cal was better than I expected. Ultimately our mistakes doomed us.

All the best to the Bears—hope they run the board and keep the QB poachers at bay—so to speak. Seems like a first rate triumvirate with Wilcox; Harsin & Rivera running the Berkeley football show. Attending the game brought back memories of our Memorial Stadium built in 1924; left behind for the Metrodome after the 1981 season and razed in 1992. There was a strong sense of de ja vu about the experience going back to my elementary through high school years watching Gopher football at the U of M Brickhouse.
