What a pathetic second half from our supposed leaders. Gritty effort from Malik, Elliot, and Joey. Gonna have to make a lot of jump-shots this year to stay in games. We are gonna get killed against the elite teams inside.

You should get a job with a sports radio show in Minnesota. They lost by 8 to a top ten team with no depth on the front court. Syracuse has a ton of front court depth. We played well, and when we struggled, we came back. Let's see how tomorrow goes before you ask our two best players to transfer.

*Michael Irvin's voice* Come on fan

Yeah, they had an off half shooting but not pathetic! It will be good to get Mo back!

I was as frustrated as anyone by Dre's second half play, but he shows up more often then not. He had a bad night. He'll come back strong.

I just wish they would have showed the replay of the hard foul on CJ Fair.

Both are streaky shooters, and when they're both off it hurts. At least this year we have a 3rd guy who can pick up the slack from the outside in Smith.

Andre and Austin played pretty much the entire game and with how intense our defense was against a very very good Cuse team I didn't expect much on offense. I'm a little more upset with Oto with how he had played previously but i'm sure he will get going again tomorrow. Overall i'm disappointed with the loss but pleased with the effort. These guys are going to be fun to watch as they continue to grow together. Good times are ahead.

Thus far Austin has been a disappointment. He is a Sr. and was hoping he would be more effective. Dre will carry us but he had an off day. Good to see EE come through. He needs to play smarter and stay away from the dumb fouls and hope that he doesn't loose his aggressiveness. I have been one of his critics But his play was very solid and hope he will show more of the same.

Nice to see Smith shoot and King back.

Now we will see if Mo can give us some much needed relief.

Against a quality opponent when the game is still in the balance your studs have to step up and I thought both shrunk. CJ Fair for them did not.

Tough to beat a ranked team with only one center available. After I saw how this game was being called early, I knew EE would end up in foul trouble. More than a few of those calls against the Gophs were bogus - all ball. Rich is going to have to be a bitch on the sideline this year. Have to find a way for Elliott to avoid foul trouble, because he's turned into a nice player in front of our eyes. I never thought I'd see a dribble drive like that out of him.

To many errors and turnovers, and the early game jitters did not help. I tell you what: take better care of the ball, and we're taking about a Gopher victory.

This team will only get better. You have to consider this is still the adjustment period to a new coach and a slew of newcomers. I'm looking forward to seeing what this evolves into. One way or another, this team is going to compete and scrap.

The last paragraph says it all. This team will get better. Remember, Syracuse is no slouch and they played pretty well tonight. We had off nights from both Hollins, Mo was out, and King was weak from the injury. It is hard to be at full strength you have a difficult time eating, which I'm sure was the case if he had some type of surgery. But, the best thing so far this season; boys, we've got a basketball coach and it's going to be a fun ride with him at the helm!

terrible starts for the first 4 minutes of each half....Syracuse jumped out to 12-2 lead before the Gophers got going...expanded a 39-36 halftime lead to 52-38...

I knew he would end up in foul trouble because he always does.

Syracuse clearly knew that we were undersized and they played a defensive scheme to their benefit. They offered very little room around the perimeter and most drives to the hoop were sniffed out. Fair got a lot of open midrange looks due to broken press. I'm not too concerned yet. As already mentioned, both Hollins have far more good games than bad. An incomplete team and foul trouble in the front court limited what we could do. Syracuse used it to their advantage.

Austin has been a stat filling and highly efficient player so far this year. Glue guy on the court.

Bingo. Down the stretch the Hollins boys need to take over. On the critical possessions near the end of the game it looked like our guys were afraid to shoot.

Andre 5-13 (2-7 from three point range) with 4 turnovers.
Austin 3-8 (1-5) with 5 turnovers.

Even with good efforts from the supporting cast, like tonight, we're not going to beat a top 10 team without better output from the Hollins.

Can you please go back to not posting like you did when the football team was on it's 4 game win streak. They loose....and poof....you're back.

Talk about pathetic

Hopefully Mo can hit the ground running tomorrow. What this game shows is that all hands will be needed on deck. The conference schedule will be a meat grinder full of big and athletic teams.

I saw Andre jack up a contested three with 30 seconds left on the shot clock late in the 2nd half.

If you are shooting poorly. That's fine. It happens to a jump shooter. Even the great ones, but if you let it affect the rest of your game (he had lazy turnovers, off ball fouls, and poor shooting decisions), then you are letting your team down.

Also, yes I realize we only missed 1 free throw all game. Great game from the line helped keep us in it, though Cuse shot well also. BUT it was a very unfortunate and uncharacteristic miss. Andre (95% foul shooter) on the line for a 1 and 1 with 6 seconds left in the half and us down one. Chance for us to go into halftime with the lead. But he MISSES the front end, Cuse goes down and gets Eliason's 2nd foul with 1 second left, and makes 2 shots for a 3 point halftime lead.

Syracuse is an elite team inside, and we didn't get killed.

Considering the circumstances (Cuse having the advantage down low to begin with, Walker being out, EE and King in foul trouble), I think we held our own down low. It could have been a hell of a lot worse, that is for sure.

Dre was off, Austin played a lot of minutes, I was hoping to see some of Wally, it appears Pitino doesn't trust Wally's defense in a tight game yet.

Gopherinpain is officially a troll. Time to join Millions2Spare on the ignore list.

Correct me if I'm confused...this was a game we came close to winning despite having really only 1 center and no bruising power forward on the roster against a team that is a match-up nightmare for us that is ranked #8 in the country and we aren't ranked.

Dismantle the roster, I say! How dare we lose!

Is Syracuse overrated or was it us? We have reason for optimism if we can be competitive like tonight. Syracuse will get destroyed by good guard play. Was not impressed with Syracuse.

I WAS impressed with Syracuse. They came to play today.
