If you had to/could pick one, which would you rather see? The Gophers finish the year out strong (8-4, 9-3 but lose to WI), get a nice bowl game and win that? OR, go to Camp Randall and win the axe on Wisconsin's home turf?

Axe, not even close.

It's time.

Go Gophers!!

Axe, not even a question. I would have the Gophers lose by 80 each of the next three weeks if it meant we would win the Axe.

I am tired of or. Let's make it AND and go to a real damn good bowl game

Considering how consistent Wisc is, it is hard to imagine a 4 win team beats them.

Bowl game wins aren't even a big deal.

Outside of a New Years Six game or anything associated with the CFP there isn't a bowl game out there that would trump winning the Axe. And it would be all the sweeter to break this insanely long drought at Camp Randall. Heck I could live with a 3 game losing streak at this point as long as it meant the last game of the year was a win.

obviously deep down i want to beat the skunks more than anything.

but in regards to recruiting and actual program development: getting to (and winning) a bowl game against a marquee opponent would be much more beneficial than breaking the streak vs wisconsin. recruits would care more about a holiday bowl win over usc or stanford than beating wisconsin in general.

the way we make progress against wisconsin is simple: win enough games before our matchup with them so the battle for the axe consistently is crowning the B1G west winner.

+1 Sorry to be a party pooper. I wanted both to start the season, and I am not moving from that stance.

We'll remember the next Rose Bowl win.

Sure, but just getting to the Rose Bowl is a big deal. The outcome is not going to ruin the experience either way. Not true with Badger games when we've been on this run of losing.

Of course the AXE but this year winning the AXE means a good bowl game and probably winning a good bowl game. I say be "Greedy" and get both. What have the Gophers to lose, either way it will be downplayed by some in the media, any chances of these things happening that is.

Beating Wisconsin would likely mean a minimum of an 8-4 record, plus a win in Madison could cost the Badgers a bid to Indy. Losing to Becky hurts more than losing a bowl game.

This division is wide open. Looking at point differential through five games, it's crazy.

Nebraska +7.6 per game
Minnesota +7.2 per game
Wisconsin +4.8 per game
Northwestern +3.2 per game
Iowa + 2.6 per game

I take beating Wisconsin over a bowl win. Beating Wisconsin likely means we're in a pretty meaningful bowl and I'll just enjoy the bowl game.

Plus losing to Wisconsin would tie the all time series at 59-59-8
