he 2024 college football season is nearly upon us. This weekend, Week 0 begins in Dublin with a showdown of legendary Irish programs [cough, hack, wheeeeeze] Florida State and Georgia Tech. That means ball coaches all across this great football nation will soon be hanging up their sticks for their summer. It’s sure to be a bittersweet day for them, but which sideline czar will miss golf most as fall begins? Action Network’s Brett McMurphy may have the answer, polling dozens of college football head coaches to find out, once and for all, who is the nation’s best head coach golfer. Plenty of dudes look like that on the tour. Aphirbarnrat looks like the before in a weight loss commercial. Lumpy is literally called Lumpy
 



I'm impressed. Hell, I'm blown away.

With all the time demands on any head coach, how can they sneak away to play often enough to maintain a decent handicap?
 

You know these guys are competitive and talk about their handicap. One reason I say that is that during SEC media days they had this thing where they were asking the coach they were interviewing if they had a question to ask for the next coach coming up. In this case, Mark Stoops (Kent @ 17) was like hey Hugh (Freeze - Auburn), how low did you get that handicap this summer? Apparently, it's 4.6.

I'm very surprised PJ has the patience to golf. Maybe he gets 5AM tee times with a souped up cart and he's done by 6 something.

This means that back in my prime, on my best day of golf, and a couple of my signature ‘ball bounces off the tree onto the fairway’, I’d have a chance to beat PJ.
