NIT is not realistic. Haha classic response about the rah rah crap. Yes, I definitely think that. Every time anyone says something negative, including myself, I think they should be banned.

2 losses against teams who likely won't be tourney teams in the non-conference makes us tourney bound? You've seen great things so far? :rolleyes:

You are the one who wants to ban everyone you disagree with. But I thought it was funny that you said you would go insane if you heard "prejudicial" or "mean-spirited" again. You threw me a big fat softball, don't you think?

Have any of you guys predicting a loss to Miami actually seen them play? They are not what you'd call a high basketball IQ team. Athletic and with good size, yes, but that's not enough to beat a solid team if they don't play solid D and take care of the ball. Miami is a team that turns the ball over a lot (they average 17.3 APG and 18.3 TO pg per game - an awful stat considering most of the teams they've played aren't very good) and are prone to play piss-poor defense that reminds you when you see it of why they are an NIT team. The main reason they were able to beat South Carolina, their one good win, was USC's key forward was injured 7 minutes into the game (SC was up 9-2 at that point). The Gophers' D is going to force a lot of turnovers, which will allow guys like Joseph and Westbrook to get out in transition and score more often than they were able to the past couple games. Minnesota has the better team, no doubt in my mind. I watched part of Miami's game vs. S. Carolina this year, and obviously I know them from watching Miami play OSU last year - this is not a very good Miami team & they are an NIT team. I can practically guarantee you that Miami will not make the NCAA tourney. Portland and Texas A&M are both clearly better than Miami. On the flipside, no, this won't really be a road win that will do a lot to help the Gophers make the NCAA tourney, so your schedule didn't really do you many favors (I don't understand the lack of challenging home games, but it is what it is).

dude, can you stop claiming prejudice on absolutely everything? it gets old and makes you sound like you have a chip on your shoulder about everything. Do you also claim racism anytime anything goes wrong or someone gets into trouble?
 

Like I said before, teams lose to teams that aren't as good as them all the time in sports. It's not like we got crushed, and it's not like these two teams were terrible. We lost to non tourny teams last year, last I checked, we still made it.

Where do you get the idea that I want to ban everyone I disagree with? I disagree with a ton of people on here and notice I don't talk about wanting all of them banned. I'm just sick of reading the same stuff by you 3 guys over and over. You think that everyone hates Royce White and that they are prejudging him and being mean-spirited, but that doesn't make any sense. They are judging him by what he has done. Why do you think they don't think that highly of him? We all know that Royce is a good player and that the team could use him. Unfortunately, Royce has made some poor decisions and because of those decisions he is unable to play right now.

Not at all. There are plenty of people who won't make snap judgments on Royce based on what they read in the papers and on internet boards. I'd like to think Maturi and Tubby are in this group. But there are a handful of regular posters on this board who frequently make prejudicial comments about Royce based on allegations and rumors.

People aren't prejudiced against Royce for any other reason than he got caught doing stupid things. In fact, he got caught doing several stupid things, regardless of whether the law finds him guilty or not. As a result, he suffers the consequences. Case closed.

Also, if you think that Tubby and Maturi are basing their evaluation of either Trevor Mbakwe or Royce White on what newspapers and internet message boards are saying, then I don't know what to tell you. They are WAY more wired in than anybody on this message board or at the newspaper. Why? Because they deal with Royce and/or Trevor either daily (in Tubby's case) or frequently (in Maturi's case). In other words, they actually see them and talk with them. That being the case, I'll go with their judgments in both cases.

The point is, we had the opportunity to get a big win in the tournament against WVU, and instead we fell flat on our faces with 2 bad losses. Last year we were dominant in the non-conference and if we would've lost to Louisville there's no way we would've been in the tournament. This year we have no marquee win like that, and 2 bad losses included. Logically, we will have to be better than we were last year in Big 10 play by at least a game or two, which I don't see our team doing at this current pace. Get a clue and be realistic.
 

First off, you seem to think these are much worse losses than everyone else. Good thing your opinion doesn't matter, and the people who do make decisions won't consider the losses as bad as you do. Did we play any good teams in non-conference other than Louisville last year? We have no marquee win like that? Wow, look at how many games we've played, there are plenty of opportunities left. Michigan St. or Purdue could be one. Your reason for thinking that Texas A & M being a bad loss is because you watched a game and thought they looked bad. I guess that must have been a terrible loss then. Why wouldn't we be better in the BT this year? We lost nobody and gained experience. We play Iowa twice (once last year), Indiana twice, and NW twice, Penn St. doesn't look as good this year, and I doubt we lose to Michigan both times this year. I'm more realistic than you are buddy. Please bitch about the team some more. Everyone just loves to hear you whine like a pissy 8 year old who cries when their team loses.

You are saying essentially what I said. I have no problem with Maturi and Tubby deciding the fates of Royce and Trevor, in fact I advocate that. I just have a problem with those who want to convict them based on allegations and rumors.
