Gopher Fans,

We had a great preview episode this week with Darrell Thompson and Glen Mason. Coach Mason shares what he would have done in the final 19 seconds then we turn our attention to the Ohio State game which Darrell, Coach Mason, and I all discuss.

Here it is:http://www.huddlecasts.com/#!minnesota-huddle/ckuv

And here's a thought... Glen Mason, next Minnesota AD or Head Coach???

Let me know what you think.

Glen would have run the ball on first down, scored and still lost the game.

One of the great all-time posts! Very funny and very true. Glen should be the last guy to comment on this.

Thank you. Posts like this are what make me laugh and want to return to Gopher hole.

If Mason wanted the AD job I would hire him in a heartbeat. I just don't think he wants to work that hard at this point, having way too much fun with the TV gig and being able to do whatever he wants to for the most part.

Didn't we blow a game to Purdue in 01 with less time on the clock and Purdue was on the one?

This is probably exactly what Claeys and Limey were thinking running out the clock....
Purdue game
Northwestern game
half a dozen other teams...

I was never more nervous than when Glen Mason would take a late lead
with anything more than :02 on the clock..

It was the dreaded 19 seconds, Purdue started at their own 3 yard line with no timeouts.

Glen was on KFAN with Barreiro last night and they were talking about the end of this year's Michigan game and Dan brought up that Purdue game to get Glen going.
Mason recalled that the refs could not believe that the home field clock operator left that 1 second on the clock. The ref said that that wouldn't have happened anywhere else in the country. This all led in to a rant about how terrible this school is when it comes to sports including the Metrodome and the Vikings at TCF. Pretty good stuff.

I always hoped that the clock operator was fired immediately after that game.

wasn't this the game where Purdue kicked the field goal to tie it in the very last second, then things got worse

in overtime purdue got the ball first and scored a TD

The Gophers had a TD pass caught in the endzone (catch with one foot clearly down and in) but the refs were confused by the endzone markings and ruled the ball was caught out of bounds - giving purdue the win.

The fans always get exactly what the fans deserve. And, so it shall be. And, so the fans shall deserve. What you have gotten you will continue to get. As it has been...so it shall be. Hoops is even worse.

So you'd hire a guy that doesn't work hard - nice!

Thanks guys. What I lack in football knowledge I make up for in snarkiness.
