Since I didn't pay attention to if there were any other serious candidates, who could the Gophers have hired instead of Whalen that they would've been better off now than they are with Plitzuweit? I assume they weren't ever going to hire Geno away UConn (the only way at that point to get Paige Bueckers) so everything probably worked out in the long run.

Ivey from Notre Dame was coveted by a few here but unknown if there was any realistic chance of her coming here when she was an assistant there.Since I didn't pay attention to if there were any other serious candidates, who could the Gophers have hired instead of Whalen that they would've been better off now than they are with Plitzuweit? I think the only other candidates that were really being discussed seriously were Plitzuweit (who was at South Dakota) and perennial candidate Aaron Johnston (South Dakota State), but it moved so fast there wasn't much time for speculation.
