Get, and win, a good bowl game.

Do you think the Selection Comittee would still put OSU in the playoffs if they win out, given they lost their Heisman candidate QB? I feel like TCU has a chance to jump even with an OSU win.

I think that if they beat up Wisconsin they have a shot. Might need some help but a 20 point win might do it.

You are correct. I seriously hope we fight hard for the Outback. Sorry to say (and I could be completely wrong here) but I think January 1 Bowl does way more for the psyche of fans, supporters, and recruits.

I agree, although some of it is technicality. The Gator Bowl has been a Jan. 1 Bowl for the last several years, but is now January 2. The Holiday Bowl is above the Gator Bowl but is Dec. 27.

In the basketball tournament they would dock OSU for the injury. I would assume the same here. OSU needs the new guy to have a big game on Saturday and prove they're still the same team. (Or Auburn to come back here.)

Anything lower than the Holiday would be a royal screw job, but Holiday, Outback, or Citrus would be the best bowl for the gophers in about 45 years.

Absolute worst scenario for Gophers is Outback, especially if Wisconsin loses. Badgers want to play in Holiday, so that leaves New Year's Day wide open for Gophers.

They won't put Nebraska in Florida. They've been there I believe the last 3 out of 4 years.

One thing I like to keep in mind with this whole process is that it is not perfect and not always fair. I just hope the Gophers and Jerry Kill get what they deserve for the successful season they have had.

The problem I have with the Outback is that it is opposite the Cotton (an at-large bowl) and the Citrus (which would have one of the top 3 Big Ten teams unless something unexpected happens). Which one of the Cotton, Citrus, and Outback is likely to have the lowest national viewership?

The Holiday, on the other hand, owns its night time slot.

I think a coachless NE team is less attractive to bowls than MN and our coach's story.

Bowl selection committees aren't interested in fairness. All they care about is the pocket-book and as a result, they'll try to find an excuse to screw the Gophers out of a good bowl if at all possible. In this case, I don't think the screw job will be as bad as it has been in the past, but they'll definitely favor Nebraska over the Gophers when push comes to shove. Fortunately, there's only so far down the ladder they can push Minnesota this time around. Would be surprised if Iowa gets selected ahead of the Gophers, but if the bowls can find a way to justify it, they will.
