Am I the only one who was horrified to see one of the players from New Mexico State give their coach a Gatorade bath at the end of the game? First off, its totally uncalled for in Game 2 of any season in any situation. But considering what had just happened with Coach Kill, I thought it was about the most classless thing I've seen in sports in a long long time. I hope that player gets one hell of a talking to.

Poor timing? Probably....but NMSU hasn't beaten a BCS conference team since forever and their coach beat his alma mater. I agree they probably should've subdued their celebration until the locker room. I would be more concerned about the classless antics of Gopher players after a 5 yard gain or making a tackle - even when they're losing at home to the worst team in D-IA. I thought No Play Traye Simmons was back in a Gopher uniform today with all of the showboating going on.....

Maybe it was because I was watching on TV and not at the stadium, I did not see all that much celebrating today on meaningless plays by the gophers, but it could just be it wasn't as obvious on TV. I agree people celebrating like crazy about a meaningless tackle is annoying, and it used to drive me crazy under Brewster. Hopefully a trend Kill can correct.

Nonetheless, I don't think a Gatorade bath in that situation is called for at all, even without the Kill situation. With the Kill situation? Totally classless. If I was his coach, that kid would be benched for a long damn time.

I am confident he will be spoken to about it. I would say that when you simply don't win games (NMSU rarely, if ever does), you don't know how to act. Everything about Coach Kill that I read would suggest that he would want fans to forgive the kid and have his coaches use it as a teachable moment. I am sure Coach Walker will. I was more disappointed than horrified.

Ok, good point, disappointed might be a better word than horrified. As a person and a coach, I like everything I see about Coach Kill. Hopefully he will be recovered and back on the sidelines soon.

Amen. According to Limegrover, he has never missed a game (dealing with seizures). I hope that he gets well soon and I look forward to our family cheering on Coach Kill and the Gophers next week.

I kind of felt the same when when they rushed the field. But thought, maybe they didn't know if was Kill, though show some respect for anyone in that severe a situation. But I'm guessing not all their players knew it was Kill that went down.

I get very tired of fans constantly throwing down the "classless" card, which appears to mean "any action taken by the other team/coach/fans that I don't like." I was a little taken aback, but NMSU just won a big game - let the kids celebrate.

When I saw the gatorade bath on television, I did think "I wonder how long it will be before a Minnesota fan calls this classless?" The answer, apparently, is 4 hours, which is longer than I expected.

If the Gophers had done the same thing in that situation, I would have still thought it was classless. Brewster's teams over celebrating trivial plays used to drive me nuts. If it had been in a game that I was just watching and not cheering for anyone, I would have still thought it was classless. But, just my opinion.

NMSU is largely comprised of NQ JC transfers from Compton and the so. cal region. Class has no part of a gangster brain. Some of the Gopher fans need to think before blogging the words concerning Coach Kill. The negative opinions are so sad.

This comment is more pathetic than the gatorade bath. They had enough brains to beat our team.

Coming from a member of the Burt BigEnema knee-pad brigade. Classic.

I for one think Coach Kill and his staff just me be the right guys for the job, something we have not had in far far too long. I will admit that after the game last week, I thought we might be closer to a breakthrough than it appears we are. But the talent level just isn't quite there, and it's going to take longer to coach these kids up than 2 games.

I didn't think it was "the most classless thing I've seen in sports in a long long time." The problem is you are looking at it from the mindset of a Gopher fan. When you look at it from their perspective though, you realize this was a HUGE win for them. They have been mind-numbingly bad for the past few decades and these players don't know what it's like to win. Then all of a sudden they come here on the road to a BCS team's home-opener and dominate the game. You better believe they are going to celebrate, regardless of what happened. I'm not saying I liked it, but at the very least I understood it. And you did too. I agree with Art that they probably should have subdued it a bit more, but I can understand why those players and coaches are excited on that side of the field.

What?? Seriously? You are a *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#ing moron if that's how you honestly feel. Get a damn life.

This win is more than likely going to be the highlight of their season.
Those kids were excited and their actions by no means show any disrepect to Coach Kill.
I'm sure those players were concerned with coach Kill's condition but they just achieved something that they don't do very often. Let them have their moment in the sun. They meant nothing by it. They've busted their tails.

The only classless thing I saw was the Gopher football team. Sorry he had a seizure....but where was the coaching? Terrible game by the players and the coaches.

Relax. For them this was a huge win. The way we played is what should have horrified you.

I'm disappointed more people aren't calling you out on this. It's a miserable thing to say much less in a post where you're imploring people to think before they post.

An

Another classy post from Unregistered User. Keep them coming.

Oh no...I offended the classless offspring of Butt BigEnema. You trolls are so thin skinned and hyper-sensitive that you still feel the need to troll this board with our head coach in the f^cking hospital. Piss off.

In what way was the team classless? They played poorly, yes, but how were they classless?

Please ban popeyoung. That post was far past the bounds of appropriate.

I'm probably the only person here who thinks that the Gatorade bath has become so cliche that by its very nature it's become, if not classless, surely ridiculous.

Regarding the use of "troll" - You keep using that word. I do not think that word means what you think it means.

As for the word "classless" - I agree that it is way over-used by keyboard cowboys trying to make themselves feel better.

These kind of banal threads always devolve into a big circlejerk and pollute this forum.

Come on, if I was ranked #30625384 in the country and I beat a BIG10 team who just barely lost to USC, I'd be over joyed too. You're talking about 18 - 22 year old kids (who bathed their coach in Gatorade), who have known nothing but losing games. It's like their Championship bowl game. It was unfortunate what happened to Coach Kill, and he will get better and be back to normal soon... but that shouldn't change what the outcome was.

People - we Gatoraded Jeff Horton last year after a win over freaking Illinois for crying out loud. Nobody called that classless. NMSU just did something they hadn't done in over a decade. No problem at all with the celebration.

I wasn't aware coach Zook had a seizure 20 seconds before we won that game.

IMO wasn't classless. I understand why they did it. It just looks bad to me that in a matter of 20 seconds it went from deep, saddened prayer to Gatorade baths. Just an odd transition.

I can understand the argument about doing it right after the seizure - however, most people seem to be arguing that a win over us shouldn't be gatorade-worthy, not that the celebration was in bad taste due to Kill's health.
