"I look at Minnesota a little bit like what we were a year ago -- really a good football team but probably didn’t get as much credit as what they deserved," Patterson said. "They were a really good football team when we played them. And then I really watched them at the end of the year, and they probably played Ohio State as well as anybody did, even better than anybody did in the playoffs.

"We know we’ll probably even play a better Minnesota team than we watched on film at the end of the season because of recruiting and guys growing up."

Go Gophers!!

I know that it is meant as a compliment, but saying that a team/player played "as well as anybody" never sounds complimentary to me.

We did keep it really close in the Ohio State game, though - like he said. Probably more so than Oregon. But I thought Alabama gave them a better fight.

Alabama should have beat them. I re-watched that game a few weeks back and 'Bama dominated the first half. Ohio St. was lucky to still be in the game, but once they got rolling they played lights out. Oregon had one good drive against them and then it was all OSU. I still think if we had beat Wisconsin, OSU would have had a similar score in the Big Ten Championship game against us (as they did against Wisconsin). Luckily that never happened so we can all deny it...

How was OSU lucky? They still had to out execute Bama which they did.

I really don't think we would have beat them 59-0. Maybe something like 37-17.
