If only some other guys on the team had his toughness and determination. If he develops a jumper, look out.

Also thought Oto played well. Austin Hollins was horrible. Ralph's situation is sad to watch.

It's all about next year now. Really need the freshmen to develop.

We only had 3 or 4 players play hard the entire game. It was disappointing.

Joe has had games where he's played very well, and he's had some games where he hasn't played well at all.

However, what I like about him, and why he will ultimately succeed: you never question his effort or work ethic. Ever. If he's on the floor, he's going 100%, and he's attacking. He may make mistakes/miss shots, but he always attacks.

I wish someday every single Gopher would have the same mentality/effort.

I don't think any 'participation awards' should be handed out after a performance like tonight.

Its too bad there daddy's talent didnt rub off on either one of them. Incredibly passive and soft players that were not made for the B10 style.

I've got to say, you're being awfully hard on the sophomore. Unfair. Same crap people were spewing two years ago about the freshman Cobbs.

Agreed. He's tough & will be a star but his weakness is obvious. NW is a team he can excel against right now because he's more athletic & they don't have a physical, big-body in the lane/baseline to pound on him. NW's soft underneath so he had a path to the lane & the baseline. He can do that against NW, but as we've seen, he can't against the top teams (Until they respect his jumper).

You cannot compare Hollins to Sampson. IMO, Hollins has come a long way from his Fr. season to his So. season. He has gotten more aggresive, more confident on the court, seems to have better ball handling skills, etc. Sampson never took that step. He's as soft as he was as a Freshman. Hollins just had a bad game.

The Cobbs point above is right on. Tubby brought him in as a relatively unheralded PG from CA and fans castigated the recruitment and were puzzled about what Tubby saw when Cobbs played minimal freshman minutes. Admittedly, he did look raw. So those quick to conclude inferiority, chill, sometimes excessive criticism drives a young player out of town.

Yet, here comes some positive criticism of Joe Coleman. Strong, determined, successful background, great future but he needs that 4-15 foot jumper as everyone sees. He also could improve his ball handling so he doesn't get stipped in the paint and on the perimeter. Future remains bright for J. Coleman.

I would love to see the old threads on Justin C.

rubes claiming he was not a B10-caliber PG. Wow.

The current freshman class holds the key to Tubby's ultimate success or failure at the U. I REALLY like the complementarity, skill set, and BODY LANGUAGE of this group. They can be very good, beginning next year. Add Rodney to the mix and it should be a much better season.

No more player attrition, please!

I believe in the mentality of win as a team, lose as a team, but we gotta give credit where credit is due. The team didn't play hard as a whole, but Joe did individually. I'm willing to accept any bright spots I can find right now.

Rodney, Welch and Oto played hard as well. Just going to ignore them?

Nah of course not. That wasn't my intention. I was just making the point that although the loss was disappointing, we can't overlook any and all positives of the situation.
