Ok so to address this with both of you and everyone else on the board.

The issues with this team are not new. They are frustrating, yes but not new. We look slow, we don't have a great offense, and Amaya and Mara are ice cold shooting. All accurate. But not new.

So the annoyance comes from the posters who post NOTHING but negative. They don't like the coaches; it hasn't mattered who the coach. The players they feel are overrated. okay. But the issue, if it's not new.... does it need to be harped on EVERY. SINGLE. GAME/DAY?

If you feel Olivia Olson would be their best player...ok great, probably right.. you are more than welcome to watch Michigan.

Don't like these players/coaches, check in if and when they are gone. No one is forcing anyone to watch this team.

But a few things as an example, for nothing but negative. In games, they win...comments are in the teens or 20s. Every Loss...minimum of 50+ comments. usually the same complaints. Before anyone says they only beat bad teams, check the game posts from WBIT run or wins over Illinois and Indiana last season, which were all good wins.

Now Mallory Heyer. She is gone. And now we are looking at her with the same posters acting like she is the massive difference maker. The same posters who complained about her last two years' shot selections or cold shooting games. But now she's the best thing we've ever had. I agree she is missed. So is Woodson, so was McKinney a lot this week.

Just a quick reminder....they have two losses by a combined 11 points. Have not allowed a team to score more than 63. Offense needs to be better, but the posters who have nothing but negative to say....we get it.... let us know if you have info or the rare positive thought on the team....cause your disdain of the coaches and current players is VERY WELL KNOWN already.
Agree. This is one of my biggest frustrations with GH and the # of posts always goes up when our team is losing regardless of the sport. I try , although not always successfully, to regulate both my expectations and my frustrations. As a life long MN sports fan I should be very skilled in accepting disappointment. I respect and admire student athletes . It can be hard to remember how young they are and how much effort they have given to try and win. I generally enjoy this forum more than the others because more posters here try to remember it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun. Go Gophers !

Sorry, but they transfer freely, often, and are paid. They are now professionals. They don't get the same treatment anymore.

I couldn’t stream the game.
What happened in the last 3 minutes?
They made a nice run by breaking out quickly off misses. Got layups or easy shots and made them. Last 3 minutes, the defense wasn't getting as many stops and the offense was slowing it down. Also missed alot of freethrows.

they missed 3 fts... that is not A LOT.. compared to the Men's team..

Most of them are not making anywhere near “ professional “ money @ the U. The majority of our student athletes will make their living in non sports related fields. The college landscape has changed but like any business most of the money stays at the top.

This team isn't making the NCAA Tournament again.

I'm not sure Coach P is right for the job. Maybe she is, but doubt is creeping in.

She needs to build a credible offense and find better players.

I think what Coach P has shown is steady, marginal improvements each year, and a marginal improvement over last year is enough to make the tournament. I will say I think she has already done a lot to strengthen the program in her three years here, including improving each player's skillset and recruiting great talent that others may have passed over.

I am a little frustrated with the lack of instant success, and maybe that's unfair. It's just that the best coaches in the Big Ten have tended to overperform their expectations when they arrived, and Coach P is slightly underperforming each year. Maybe her coaching success is going to be more of a slow burn rather than burning fast and bright, but at a certain point you do have to account for disappointment in ways other than just saying over and over again you were dealt a bad hand with injuries, etc.

Anyways, I'm still rooting for her success and think she's built a great team this year! The only two losses were close and show that if they can shake a bit of rust off, they could be winning tough games rather than losing them. But that difference in losing games by 5 or 6 points and winning them by 5 or 6 points is where the rubber meets the road.

There are no games to build a tournament resume because they lost the games they needed to win and the rest are cupcakes.

They need to win a lot of Big Ten games to make the tournament. I don't see 12 wins in the Big Ten. I'm not sure I see 11 or 10.

Still think the Gophers can make the tournament, but it will be a lot easier if they can avoid a big hole the first 8 games of the BIG season. The early BIG schedule is beyond brutal:

Maryland
at Indiana
at Michigan
Northwestern
USC
UCLA
at Washington
at Oregon

3-5 would be a really good start, and 2-6 might not be fatal. 7-3 in the last 10 BIG games is realistic, and 9-9 in conference, perhaps with a BIG tournament victory should get you to the dance:

Wisconsin
at PSU
Purdue
at Iowa
at Rutgers
Nebraska
at Wisconsin
OSU
MSU
at Illinois

It feels like a 6 or 7 win season in the Big Ten.
