Game 5: Gophers play SMU in Tempe (11-17-24)

SMU gifted the Gophers this win, if they just hang on to the ball they win. Also how are Woodson and Stewart not starting? They're clearly the two better players on this team.

Grace 1 for 9 from 3 and Braun 0 for 7 and we win with 5 of 28 3 point shooting. Musta done something right. Woodson and Stewart each with 18 points.

They are getting the minutes it doesn’t matter. These players who are struggling are probably very frustrated. Coaches may be trying to be encouraging to them by starting them. Sometimes it’s a mental game with athletes.
 

I could be wrong, but I think SMU will win more games than people think this year. They have some talent. This is the first back to back games of the year, so shooting numbers I would imagine were more from tired legs. GG needs to shoot the three better. I like Woodson and Stewart off the bench to provide the spark. Gophers will win games from the defense. I'm still lost on why Johnson is not seeing minutes, but I think I mentioned that enough on here lol
 

This team is in trouble. Braun is still shooting way too much for how often she misses. Her game hasn't shown any offensive improvement.
 



It is way to early to panic. Winning games they would have lost last year is a good sign. My opinion is to keep the starters the same. My thoughts are that our defense caused them problems with all the turnovers they had. Players have off games, again my opinion, but Mara is too talented to struggle all year.

Exactly, I don’t get the panic. This team is 5-0 (yes not the best competition) but, I think this team would have probably lost both of these games last year. The defense is much improved and they haven’t been turning the ball over. It’s only year 2 under Coach P and we’re already way better than last year. It takes time. Support this team; I think they will surprise people.

I probably don't watch as much basketball as you fine folks, but if you're needing your best players to come off the bench to provide some offense then maybe the coaches should be rethinking who should be starting so that we're not down 10+ points before they enter the game. Just my two cents.

I could be wrong but I don’t think the Gophers have ever been down by 10+ points yet this year. Some players respond better coming off the bench. Trust I’m baffled by a few things myself, but we’re also not in practice everyday.

If you have seen the games, Coach P I don't think will let it get to being down 10+ before bringing in the bench. Umass game, Annika came in 1:38 into the game. She usually can see what is needed and if starters come out flat, she has shown she will quickly get in the bench players.

It will be nice to get them back on TV as I can see the big picture better and understand more when I can watch the games.

for $15.oo per month you can watch every game that is on big 10+ on the big 10+ app. Roku has the app so you can watch it on tv or you can watch on your computer or phone. it is very watchable much better than in past years!

I do have bigten+ but the last two games were not on TV as far as I could tell.
