I am heavily involved with summer AAU basketball and know talent. I just don't like watching coaches railroad a a great player to appease MN players, their parents, and AAU clubs.

Most of your posts have either trashed players on the team or are complaining about Strande not playing. Its clear you have a connection to her which is fine but you should go to the coaches with those complaints, doing it on here just looks bad.
The coaches are not railroading a player. The obviously feel that Strande is not ready or they would play her. Their job is to put the best players on the court to get the team the win. If they don't win, they get fired. Strande must not be showing it in practice.
As someone who is involved with AAU, you must know that the undisciplined style of AAU is a far cry from NCAAW basketball? AAU defense is nearly non-existent. There are far too many players who can scoring 20 ppg but it doesn't help if they are giving up 30.
I'm not buying the defense excuse. Scalia 5-20 from the field and missed all six 3 pointers and still played 41 minutes. Must be nice to chuck up endless shots and know there are no consequences. Powell's strong second half play and, most importantly, Arizona State's dreadful shooting won the game.

The coaching staff sees these players every day. I have to believe that they establish a "pecking order" based on what they see and not whether someone is from Minnesota or not.
On a similar note, I like that the staff was able to figure out that Helgren would be effective against ASU and they adjusted her minutes accordingly. Again, Helgren didn't score, but she was a force defensively and with the screens she set. (Of course, none of the post players seems to score.)

1.) This offensive showing (pun intended) was atypically for Scalia. She typically is fairly efficient and knows when to stop shooting. 2.) Scalia is not a lock down defender but holds up OK on defense. She usually plays within the concept of team d. I am not in practice so I don't have any insider knowledge but Strande must not be showing it.
Strande came from a small high school in Racine Lutheran. The teams at this level were very small and Strande led the team in rebounding at just under 10 rpg. She has likely not had to play with true bigs before. She has really only played in garbage time in her collegiate career so I am guessing she needs more seasoning.
Star running backs after don't see the field in their first season because they can't be trusted to block. They can run for 200 yards but that is not enough if they continually let their QB get crushed on passing plays. Strande's liabilities must be greater than her strengths AT THIS TIME.

She has a big upside and won the game for them.
Helgren is really, really rough on the offensive end but she did some really good things on the defensive end and worked hard on the boards on both ends. And one thing I noticed in the celebration after the game was that Sconiers was absolutely ecstatic for her. Sconiers hugged her and chest bumped her a couple times and was screaming congrats the whole time. It's one thing to accept someone else took your minutes it's another to be that happy for them.

Its ok to have an opinion, but this isnt HS or AAU any more. A lot of good HS players struggle with the speed and details of the game at the next level, I'm guessing there have been some notable deficiencies in her game that the coaches see in practice and it will take time for her to work through them. Next year will be a big year for Strande, we graduate Diva and the Grad transfer, and hopefully for her sake she can use her experience to get playing time over the incoming freshman.
This incoming class no doubt is a solid class, Braun being the elite player who will play right away. The issues are this incoming class strengths are this current teams strengths, we desperately need a post player, a legit '5' that get 8-12pts a game.
