Gambling, is this any of you?

Once in a blue moon I get curious about sports gambling and I look into it.

Every dang time I come away with: "They're only going to give me X more dollars for picking an unlikely event? But they take everything if I'm wrong?"

Generally the numbers in gambling (sports gambling seems worse somehow) are so absurd that it doesn't seem to be even entertaining to me.

I get where having something riding on the game probably makes it more exciting to follow but to me just feels like an easy way to lose a lot of money quickly.

I think your point here is the primary explanation as to why the popularity of Fantasy Football has exploded over the last 25-30 years. We all get to be mini Rick Spielmans putting together a roster in chase of glory.

It's great to win your league and get a nice return on your investment at the end of the year, but the real "rush" is managing your team throughout the season.
